Employment Level : Executive

I'm probably the most underpaid websphere developer on the planet. laugh.gif sweat.gif

Any other websphere developers around in lowyat.net? I'm curious as to the salary for this line. I've read in a salary guide somewhere that they should be paid around 3k to 5k? unsure.gif

Hi dakangel,

Why don't you join intel since they are givin such high pay? I supposed to attend one interview at intel this coming friday for position as Sys Validation Engineer...it sounds like testing. But in the mean time, i had been offered by one local company under MDC program where my starting date is next monday. I am still considering whether to choose to go for Intel or local company. I am in Kl rite now. Please do reply my msg though...give me some relevant advice. Thannk You.
*
hi there. sorry for the late reply. no internet connection for few days for me.

wanna know the reason y i duwan to join back intel?
haha, simple...

1. work as permanent is very stressful
2. very very high competition
3. not much time for personal life
4. dun wanna work in penang liao. wanna stay in PJ coz was studying in Perak for 4 and half years already.

ok, i'm not saying intel is all bad. it's not. the benefits are good. i might actually join back in intel if they were to put me in KL/Cyberjaya, but possibility is very low. coz in Cyberjaya, they only lease a portion of a building which can accomodate around 50 ppl only. from wat i know, intel dun plan to expand the cyberjaya office much, unless they buy their own building though.

ok, some info for you.
System Validation Engineer... these are the kind of position normally given to new comers, mostly on testing and validation be it software of hardware. why? coz it won't give too much of an impact to the business, and a great place to start train up the new employees.
work in intel is very much into specialization. meaning u'll most probably be doing the same thing over and over. good if you like the job, but very bad if you're unhappy wif it.

if you're young, can work long hours, wanna build a good career with reputable company, then you should join intel. work your ass off for 3-5 years, get enough experience for you to jump.

MDC program? u mean the 1 u get rm1600 per month?
i'm not sure la. it's all up to you.

living standard in penang is cheap comparable to KL. rent much cheaper and food oso cheap cheap. but i always feel that the propotion of food served there is less than in KL. always need to add rice and dish haha. most of my ex-colleagues oso do the same. so in the end, money spent on food is around the same in KL.

but then, u might not end up working in penang. fyi, intel had opened a site in Kulim. it's new and they're slowly shifting the departments there. ppls say there very deserted, nothing at all. so depends on your luck la

last of all, i wish u best of luck!!
hope all these helps

I particularly agree with the food part. I think I am the big eater, usually if I order one bowl of curry me (RM 2.50) or something like that, it always not enough and my stomach will make noise late in the night. So it's either I order more during dinner or I buy some "food stocks" for myself at home.

Never agree that food is cheap in Pg. Portions are less, so on average it's almost the same. Accommodation costs not that much difference either. And at least KL's public transport much better, same reason why there are more motorbikes in Pg on aggregate.
In the end, it depends on what you're working as. If you're going for technical and factory based jobs, esp Electronic Engineers, Pg is much better.

hi Intrigue,

You can actually request for higher despite your year experience.
I applied for the same position having merely 6months experience but I'm requesting for > RM 2.200 basic but I anyhow didn't accept it since I was offered another job. You should talk with your superior on it matter. And as for the milage claims, I think it just cover nicely the car maintenance fees and so on. You having RM 0.59 per km still?

Be thankful. I have NO overtime (even though I work weekends and late at night very often) and I have no need to leave the office so I get NO mileage claims. vmad.gif
