Job Title : Seismic Acquisition Engineer
Company : Seismic exploration company
Industry : Oil and Gas
Tenur : Permanent
Education LvL : Bch. Sc in Mech Engineering
Experience before joining : 0 year (this is my first job)
Duration with current company : 6 months
Salary : USD 4000 (so in RM it depends on the exchange rate I suppose) basic + 33% offshore coefficient.

I work onboard a seismic vessel on a 5-3-2 rotation. 5 weeks on the ship, 3 weeks in the office and then I get 2 weeks 'cuti'. Start cycle all over again. Basically my job is to deploy, maintain and monitor the data acquisition equipment onboard. Best perk of the job is the amount of traveling that I have to do, and the worst thing about it is the fact that it get tedious after a while. Glad that after 3 years of doing this the company will offer me a permanent office based position. smile.gif

I looked major companies in the Oil and Gas industries and applied through their websites. It takes a while for them to process the resumes but they will call you up for an interview after a few weeks.

Owh and try applying to Oilfield services companies, they usually have operations worldwide and are usually recruiting all year round.

Checkout oilcareers.com, there's a ton of information and resources on how to go about getting a job offshore.

depends on your post...i'm a junior motion graphic artist...and i'm getting 1.3k...fresh grad, still under probation... cry.gif

anyways, the design industry is heavily based on your experience...can range from 2k+ till 6k+...fine arts will be a bit hard...i guess the easiest way to earn big cash is to become your own boss...

like what the others said, change company when you got a better offer and chance...for now, i'm learning whatever i can learn from the seniors in my office...

why not?

i came from Pg. now working in KL. according to jobstreet salary report, Pg island has the higher average salary than KL (not sure why).

Bayan Lepas, Prai, Juru and Kulim Hightech has good job opportunity too.

I plan to climb up the ladder in KL, then go back Pg later, get a stable job and retired there. biggrin.gif The houses and living cost in Seberang Perai are quite affortable.

I think you have had quite a healthy pay rise over the years. Good for you. I don't think you have much to complain since you are diploma level. Some degree holder get 2.3K as fresh with 200 yearly increment also cannot beat you when they reach 28. If you live in KL then too bad lor ... cost of living high.
