Just came back from Maxis Bayan Baru. 16GB iPhone 3GS @RM990 if you upgrade to ValuePlan 250 + iData3 (24 months contract). For 32GB, need to top up additional RM400. Not really a good deal.

However, they told be that outright purchase is back starting today. 16GB version will still need pre-booking while 32GB stock is available. Finally, go out and grab them.

bro, so even the outright purchase for 16gb still need to book and wait for the phone like 30-45 days right?

anyway, anyone knows hows KLCC 16gb stock is? hope can get mine soon@@"

I was there just last Wednesday. Apparently, they ran out of stock for both black and white! But it is certainly worth it if you do not want to be tied down with a contact.

Right. I should have mentioned that it's perhaps a good idea to call them first and ask about their stock status.

good luck waiting, i have another batch of 16gs/32white/32black comin in AGAIN this week.
And to the earlier respondant - east malaysian sells fishy iphones for sho, but better than the other side of the pond's price gouging.

Actually, you can go to places like Eaglecom in SS2 to get an official unlocked Maxis iPhone 3GS without a contract, and last I was there they had ready stock!. They use a runner who comes in with the stock and sell to them. Price is similar to what itanium is selling them for. Donno how this is all done, but the maxis card was on the iphone boxes, so I assume there is some loopholes of where these iphones are leaking out to 3rd party shops outside.

1) dont need a runner - ready stock
2) Leaked? rofl - Its official Maxis sets can be sold outright. People just too ignorant to ask.
3)If it were leaked units, would have been selling for rm2.7-3.3k and still sold like hotcakes.

Same row of shops as the Hoppy Duck place, where all the dim sum shops are. Ground floor.

at the present currency exchange, Epicenter's price still cost more than Maxis. Maxis as abundance of stock - if you dont know where to get one, too bad i guess.

After reading everybody's feedback on this thread, I decided not to purchase from Maxis.

I managed to get an iPhone 3GS from Epicentre, Singapore.

The best news is there's no need for a contract.

There was no advertisement displayed saying that they sold iPhones outright, but I took a chance and asked them, and they said, yes, they do sell iPhones with no need for signing up with Singtel, M1 or Starhub.

I took ownership of a black 16GB unit yesterday, and more stock arrived today.

I inserted my Digi prepaid card into it, and activated via iTunes over the internet - everything was smooth sailing.

I guess if any of you are going down to Singapore, you could consider checking out the Epicentre stores (there's one in Ion Orchard, I bought mine at Somerset 313).

Or maybe ask friends / relatives to get one unit for you.

The price is SGD1040 for the 16GB unit, and SGD1240 for the 32GB.

You get a 5% GST refund if you fly out of Singapore.

According to the staff, the 1-year warranty is valid for repairs at Epicentre Pavilion KL too.

Good luck!

This is really good news for those planning to get an iPhone without contract. Best part is can claim warranty at Epicentre KL. biggrin.gif But I guess its better for you to verify with Epicentre KL here and help to keep everyone posted in here smile.gif

Can anyone confirmed that with Maxis "WAIT NO LONGER" advertisement for Iphone 3GS 32G, we do not need to wait anymore if we sign up for the 32G models?
