weiyap, using ideneb, it's just a simple point & click installation???
before installation some bios settings need to be changed and the partition has to be in some strange format it's not ntfs but the one suitable for Mac.
anything else??
did i get it right??

dell and good after sales service? i dun really agree ..many of my friends complain abt dell, say the repair process always troublesome ...benq is not bad at after sales service de, they act fast also ...even though they are small company, they have good service . thumbup.gif

simple point and click? lol ...u have to make sure u choose the right patches and rdrivers in the first place ...

and make sure u make active ur partition for mac so that it is bootable ... u can search for the guide in google ... it's very easy steps ... and u only have to do it once, after that any reinstall of mac os x in that partition needs no more make active process

u have to install windows xp first to be able to flash the bios ..
*
is it a must to flash the bios before installing??

to make the active partition bootable use a software called charmeleon/champagne or something with that name right??? I remember reading about it somewhere

and weiyap, have u upgraded to 10.6?? Can an upgrade be applied directly using the retail upgrade DVD??

OK my Mac adventure will start around next month after i get my Win7 upgrade DVD then i'll clean format & install 7 and ideneb

yea, it is a must.

the make actiave thing is not abt the boot loader, u have to go into the terminal after the installation, and type sumthing starting with fdisk.
i can't remember all of them, will search and post a link here later.

nope, i haven't upgrade to snow leopard yet...waiting for my friend to borrow me his ori retail dvd for his macbook

thanks weiyap
we must use the ori retail snow leopard to upgrade???
i was thinking of downloading the .iso torrent lol

QUOTE(assmonk3y @ Oct 12 2009, 10:02 PM)
lol ive tried kalyway & iatkos. really annoying once u reach the customization menu. according to weiyap, youve to disable the intel gfx in the bios which means no more hybrid power. win7 installs much much much much easily though. got my s42 reformatted and installed win 7 x64 in about 10 mins
*
i can live without the hybrid lol smile.gif
Win7 of course is more convenient to install and tweak since we're already used to it...
see what a hardcore Mac user has to say when they are installing Win7 on their Mac lol

anyway... do you all read adobe design suite cs4 student edition only cost rm399

it includes full package of cs4 namely include photoshop extended cs4, arcobat pro 9 and others that you do not even need it...

the only downside is it need a valid student ID that still study in local HEL institution...

i've spoke to a few consultants and even some international companies are using pira ted software lol
the only copyright consultants are looking after is their drawings copyright not the software copyright

With EFI V8.0 you can now boot NTFS and FAT32 Partitions. So after you get EFI v8 working you can go ahead and install windows, but only x64 XP or vista will work, since those are the only ones that have EFI support.

OMG i don't have ori Vista x64 only the 32bit version...
i thought it will work with any version of Windows....

so that means i just need to get the partitions right and active then i'm good to go for install
am i right???

oh that's good news

Weiyap, the partition u made to install OSX is not in EFI format???
the author of the guide is running all his partitions in EFI not NTFS/FAT32

well, Mac OS X can read FAT32 though...

so u need another partition in FAt32, download the files to there, and u can read with Vista and Win7...
*
FAT32 have so small HDD space limit..... ohmy.gif
the smallest movie i download is around 4GB....

at first i thought i can freely drag files from OSX to Win7 and vice versa sad.gif

weiyap, using Paragon NTFS can access Win files on Mac but in Vista how to access .mkv files i've downloaded in the Mac partition? Or is it possible to download to the Win partition?

Added on October 13, 2009, 4:01 pmweiyap, from the dual boot guide it is written:

# Now Close Disk Utility and Select Utilities -> Darwin Boot. Type Y at the prompt.
# At the prompt when it asks for the Disk Number enter 0. For the Partition Number if your Leopard Partition is 2nd on the disk, then enter 2 and so on.
# Accept the following prompts and you should see a success prompt saying that so many block of data were written successfully.
# Now get back to the Leopard Install Screen. Choose the partition that you made in the beginning and follow the instructions on screen.
Please don’t select any patches etc during the installation, this is normally the reason for most failed installations. Just the plain install would do.

ok if i don't select any patches for the installation how to install the patches for things to work???
how did u solve the problem??

anyone looking for a new desktop graphic card, here's 1 recommendation for u...

Radeon HD5770 - 800SP, 128-bit, GDDR5...

performance wise it's somewhere between HD4870 and HD4850...

but man selling pt is not performance, but TDP...

idle 18W, full load 108W... 1 PCI-E 6-pin power is enough...

Any specific brands/model of HD5770 worth buying???

iDeneb download still have only around 45 minutes to go

well, usually for the very first batch, brand is not a really big problem... they are all BBA (Built By ATi) or BBN (Built By Nvidia) using the default design and default cooling.... but more often than not, the first batch also usually use the best possible material to build (as with other hardware also), so there's more room for overclocking...
*
oh so it's a new product lol
i thought it's an existing one
anyway i don't overclock, and don't play really 3D games lol
most 3D game i play is only Left for Dead wink.gif
