I'm wondering how you guys and girls store your books. As I share my room with my big bro, there's not much space for a real bookshelf, so put my books on a wooden screwed onto the wall.

But the bad thing is, there's a a lot of dust, plus it's not long/wide enough for my book collection that I have to put the books in horizontal position to fit in more books.

If I want to read the book on the lowest position I have to be careful not to move to much or else the upper books gonna fly down towards me.

Anyway, this is how I put my books.

actually I'm a fantasy + game genre fan tongue.gif see those forgotten realms, warcraft and halo books? I really like reading about their universe biggrin.gif

if open air makes them go yellow...perhaps I should put them into a cheap plastic container? I'm just wondering if the shelf can stand the weight of book + container rclxub.gif

lol.....Calvin & Hobbes collections....I only read them on The Star...really funny + naughty boy

Um maybe go Daisho and get those cloth storage boxes with the transparent window to see titles and zippered up. They have them for manga but sure have bigger ones that can fit different book sizes.

I don't think you can prevent it yellowing 100% but it will delay it if stored in covered area.

Daisho is in Curve. The escalator at Borders (not in Borders, in front of entrance) go to top floor you'll spot it.

Yep is good suggestion. Billy from Ikea is good if you have the space. Dust still does get in though.

Hmmm, i have books everywhere lol.
Until I get my own house, it's just literally everywhere.
I probably need a 2 or 3 bookshelves of at least 3m x 2m to put all my books lol.

ooo..i want the Eisenhorne.

I just bought a 7ft x 3ft cupboard just for books and it is filling up really fast.

I am trying to figure out a way to preserve my books too. An old cupboard (closed up, with mothballs, charcoal bags, humidity container) somehow got infected with mould, turning the books yellow and spotted and covers splotchy. I suspect those are fungi. I was so sad. Now with the new cupboard I am crossing my fingers. I really dont know what to do.

haha biggrin.gif I bought it for rm20 during a booksale. A nice read. I'm getting Ravenor after I finish my other books.

blink.gif Whoa! I guess it's time to make a trip to ikea? How fast you read the books by the way? I read like 1~2 chapters a day before sleeping.

OMG...so many protection and the books still turning yellow shocking.gif I think I'm gonna cross my fingers with the plastic container too.

Not as much books as strinq. 3 each x 3m x 2m are a heck of a lot of books.

Dont know whether anyone has problems like me. think it's Msia humidity that kills the books fast.

oooo...I want cheap Eisenhorne. Which warehouse sale? I just got Darkblade and Gaunt's Ghosts: The Saint omnibus for RM 15 each. It was a very very lucky find as there was only one each in the whole warehouse and I went back 3 times.

I go thru about 4 books a month. But I have some really bad reading habits. It's hard to describe. Basically I start a book where it fell open. Sometimes I start in the middle

that's true that's true. guess my book collection is still quite small.

so we should migrate to sahara desert to save our books tongue.gif

that was a kinokuniya booksale. I think it was 2 years ago though. Walao! Omnibus at rm15? what warehouse sale you get that? so far all the warehouse sale I only found 1 omnibus, which is the eisenhorn.

haha. I skip to the back to read the end chapter. Then I start from the beginning. Couldn't resist knowing the result!

banks - i found the omnibuses at Pearson warehouse sale. But I was very lucky and persistent. You know how in a warehouse sale they throw out truckloads of the same title? There was only one copy each in the whole of the warehouse, they were that rare. smile.gif

That was my exact reaction smile.gif I thought I will come away with classics only. To my very pleasant surprise, they distribute Orbit, Daw, Black Library too. And Penguin have loads of nice fiction too. Now the secret is out.

I think the sale is only once a year, this is my first. I even heard it's only once every few years.

*Ominous* stay away from the omnibuses - they already have my name on them icon_rolleyes.gif

wow - what are you doing up at 4 am?

Added on October 21, 2009, 11:16 amOh - and you start at the ending chapter? I thought I was bad. But that would so spoil the book!

OMG....so many distributers.... cry.gif cry.gif

At least there are other booksales too, like Big Bad Wolf Books(The best booksale of the year!), which I think should be once a year.

Finders keepers~ Losers weepers~ HAHAAHA

Accidentally fall asleep for 3 hours after dinner. Woke up and can't sleep anymore.

It's kinda interesting as to know how things led to the end after I read the end. Though it really spoil the book tongue.gif Maybe I will change my habit

I will fight till the bitter end, anything for omnibuses flex.gif

I missed the Big Bad Wolf sale. I gathered it was good huh? Hopefully I will hear it once the sale is on, and will definitely go. I like Times too as they got truckloads of fiction.

Haha - yeah, i tend to do it. Fall asleep for a few hours then woke up unable to sleep again. Next day suffered at work.

Changing habit? Nah, it doesnt work. All the books I tried to start at Ch1, I will lose interest quickly and it became a chore. It is like a curse. My best friend is constantly amazed how I can comprehend the book that way.

The God-Emperor shall protect me as I fight for the Omnibuses!

It's the best book sale! Almost every books at RM8 no matter the size. In fact, I bought most of the Halo and Forgotten Realms books from there. But I didn't saw any W40K books though...but buying so much books it's gonna take sometime to finish them.

I wonder if the book fall on the last page, you read from there? tongue.gif

^ You, my friend, have issues. Why the sudden attack on friendly bookworms ?

Throw your books and go study ? How do you study without books ? Programming books are books to study too.

Starcraft novels are nice, but you'd be surprised that there are A LOT of books out there to cater to everyone's tastes and also generally BETTER than Starcraft novels.

I rather you not attack this thread.

This is how I deal with school. Get over it.

if I get the damn assignment done, who cares if I read novels in class. The end justifies the means after all.
