looks like your tammy has a back focus problem.
at focal < 50mm ...looks like it gets worst at closer focal length.

35mm on aps-c camera is like using a 50mm lens.
for example if you are eating at a restaurant, and you want to shoot someone who is eating at the next closest table, using 50mm would be too close (ie have to move furthur away) but you might just get by if us the 35mm)


isnt SAL1855 SAM the new kit lense for a5x0?
maybe nobody has it yet?

I think you are right.
It is the kit lens of a230 and a330.
Heard its much much better than the older SAL1870 kit lens

Technically, does sony alpha camera produce different colors (donno the correct term... maybe hue? saturation? etc? ) compared to canikon, etc cameras?
I dont know about others, I seem to prefer images from alpha cameras over other brands. Or is that just psychological feeling or can be explained quantitatively ?

IMHO (reading from comments/reviews), out of the box, no alpha cameras can better the high ISO jpeg images of a5x0 (even the v4 a700). However, if owners of a700, a850 & a900 use DxO, then thats a different story altogether.
* correct me if Im wrong, but thats the impression I get after reading the reviews and comments of a550

Its a pity that DxO is not available for the new a230/a330 series yet.

Have anyone use DxO with their a200 or a300 or a350? How is the high ISO photo after processing with the DxO ?

DxO Optics Pro is a software for producing high quality image from your camera (especially RAW -> Jpeg conversion in alpha since alpha RAW -> Jpeg conversion engine (at the moment) leave a lot to be desired (apart from the upcoming a5x0))

APS-C DSLR is Advanced Photo System type-C DSLR camera.
Click Wikipedia - APS-C
A100, A2x0, A3x0, A5x0, A700 are APS-C type DSLR camera
A850, A900 are full frame (FF)

depends on your situation...
some prefer jpeg, where as some swear by raw... hehe
If you are into tweaking your pictures... then maybe you should give raw a try.
If you are too lazy to do much... then jpeg will save you the time and effort

thats an uneducated guess from an inexperienced newcomer to dslr

Maybe somebody who has been using DxO can comment as I have only just started reading about the s/w.

Previously, RAW2JPEG conversion has not been well supported in the mainstream photo editing s/w such as CS etc... Hopefully with DxO, Sony will persuade (or maybe buy over the company wishful thinking ) DxO to continue supporting alpha range and lenses to provide us tools to improve image quality

I read that the front LCD is coated (IIRC) to minimize reflection/glare... hence supposedly better visibility under sunlight... is that true? better than older alphas? any confirmation or comments on this?
