Hi,

I posted my advertisement in www.mudah.com.my, and later, 1 lady emailed me, showing interest to purchase my stuff.

First, she asked for my best price.
After I replied, then she asked me to ship it to her son, whose currently studying in Nigeria.
She also claimed that she is also currently working in Ase Insurance Company at United Kingdom.

So basically, what she wants me to do is; go to local post office, confirm the shipping fee, then get back to her with account number so that she can proceed to bank in the money.

Email pasted as per following;

Bro,

this is 200% scam. don't fall for it. i have similar case as you (though different person). Luckily I smell scam and quickly search in google for such thing

they will tell you they will make payment instruction to certain banks (or other online payment system) who will release the money ONLY after the "bank" receive the tracking no of your shipment

If you agree to deal, you will receive an email from the so called "bank". It looks real but if you notice the email address, it is not from the bank domain but from a free account domain

Eg. notification_"bank name"@hotmail.com

if you don't pay attention, you will think this is genuine

so when you ship it out, you will most likely don't hear from them again. and when you check with the bank, they will tell this transaction didn't exist

hope this is helpful

P.S. The bank & payment system are all legit institution. Just that the transaction are not

at first i didn't know it was from nigeria. he said he is from USA. but i smell something fishy because he didn't ask detail about the product though he says he wanted this for his biz (got a shop somewhere). just say i want to buy. where got serious buyer like that? serious buyer will nego and ask detail questions

anyway, i just give him "benefit of the doubt" since no harm for me. Until he says shipment is to Nigeria, my alarm started to ring loudly

then i googled if someone reported similar case, then i found out he is using exactly the same method as reported in forums

lucky for me I am a bit alert or else ...........

GOLDEN RULE : If comes from Nigeria or ship to Nigeria, you need to be on HIGH ALERT. Google if you need to. Not saying it is surely a scam, but 99% chance it is

If you have a lot of time, just continue play, in the end, she will send you email of some bank proof sort, and it will tell you to send the stuff out, and then the money will only go into your bank. Remember it's fake, no matter how real it is. So you just give him random Tracking Number and tell him/her , thank you and pleasure doing business with him/her.

Scammer have their own ready reply template. In this case, you're the idiot wasting time to come out with a reply.

Normally what they did is first the will ask for ur bank acc, what bank and all those details that he needs to do overseas money transfer(just pretend BTW), then after few days, he will get back to you telling you that he ady did the transfer and asking you to go to FeDex,GdEx Or whateva courier companies he had in his mind and asked you to post the item and after you hv posted it then provide him with the tracking no. If you asked why you need to post first when you haven't received the money, he will say it's for safety purpose, he will tell you the money is hold by the bank (to protect you and himself), but only when you provide him with the consignment code, then only the bank will release the money into ur bank, all sort of excuses, but really salute them for coming out with such great scamming skills xD

even they did pay for the stuff+postage fee, later they will somehow claim that they either:

1. never receive the item
2. claimed received, but not working/faulty etc etc
3. any other false accusation that makes us a bad dealer/seller

so, they will ask for a refund, and if we want our stuff back, we will be the one who should bear the postage fee..
and its still not guaranteed that we can actually get our stuff back btw sweat.gif

so dun waste time dealing with this kind of people..
if want to play, just play around, but make sure no money involved smile.gif

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in my TV.

I have a few questions though:
1) You want me to arrange the shipment for you and include the total amount of shipment + RM3250, right?
2) By when do you need to get this delivered? (when is ur son's birthday?)
3) Any Birthday wishes/message for your son? You want me to get u a birthday card and attach it together in the package?

My transacting terms in the ad is "cash and carry" but for your case, are you find to make the payment first before i deliver?

Warmest regards,
~Aaron

send him a sony tv made of box. Draw the picture of the TV. LOL...that would be totally funny. Read an article some time before where a scammer trying to buy a macbook. The seller found out it is a scam and send him a notebook made of cardboard. That is totally hilarious. Too bad I lost the link to that article.

I got another one today. Please add raphael.dada@yahoo.com into ur blacklist!!!

I am so tempted to reply them to use their brains when they try to scam ppl, the price for shipping to UK cost a few times more than the actual product itself. who on earth would want to buy a TV from Malaysia to have it ship to UK. vmad.gif &!^@*(!)^(#@&
But i got to restrain myself from doing so because this will only enlightened them to be smarter. Let them continue to be stupid so that they won't come out with a better way than this to scam ppl. flex.gif

I have received alot of these emails since I posted on mudah.com. Everyday oso will have such email. I noticed mostly they will use Mrs. So and so and they came from different countries, not just Nigeria. Plus, their English is so broken. I just drop them a polite reply saying that I do not ship overseas and thanked them for their interest. The end.

Follow int'l buyer-seller standard, for example: Ebay.
Make sure you as a Seller received CONFIRMED and VERIFIED payment first, only then release the goods, be it a matchstick or a container - (But do note that Ebay has escrow & insurance on both sides, whom are financial information identity recognized). For bigger case do a Back-to-back bank LC.

So desperate to sell meh? How 'bout making it limited reserved, for privilleged or collectors' circle only?

Same fiduciary principle every physical goods trade, unless your trading partner is in an environment you have the means to control.

Stick with age old chinaman ways [tradional policy] best, meet face to face, cash deal. It's never about how much money scammers ran away with, but the disrespect scammers are making fun at a person's face - most of them end up inside concrete foundation's base or hiding their entire lives.
