my ap set can upgrade firmware, but now got another bug; it wont fully charge unless i charge while the phone is switched off! Damn annoying.

Other than that i'm quite happy to know that i can choose either to use touch screen or qwerty depending on my needs. My phone crashes once, but it's easy to fix so no issue to me; coz i make it a habit to sync/backup my phone regularly.

Any of you nice N97 mini owners care to share your experience of surfing on the mini? Can you watch youtube on the mini? Pls. share your experience. Thanks.
*
no problem watching youtube. In fact web surfing experience is better now compared to my previous 5800xm.

*
happens after i updated firmware. Charge overnite also still the bar keeps running. blink.gif
to be safe i need to charge while switched off.

I still need to check whether something is wrong with my batt or charger, who knows..

hopefully it's a bug bro. Right now i think it's an isolated problem coz i've yet to see such complaint
on nokia europe discussion board. Let's hope rest of the world experience the same so we'll get some
solution, quick.

At the moment i advise u to charge while the phone is switched off. Alternatively limit your charging to
2 hours then unplug. U dont want to end up with an exploded phone. laugh.gif

last nite i tested charging the phone with the Handy Blacklist deactivated, as that was the only app running on the background. Apparently that settled the problem! Within 3 hours the phone is fully charged and the bar stopped moving.

I need to reconfirm this by charging again tonight with the app running.

I'm planning to buy this phone in mid-April, should I take this over the original N97? The only beneficial thing I see is just the 32GB and D-Pad, reviews stating that the performance of the phone is very sluggish and terrible. Any advice?
*
definitely u should take the mini. n97 ram is too small.

Knowing that N900 using the Maemo 5 OS, so anyone know how well the Maemo 5 is if compare to the symbian OS like what the N97 mini have? Possible for Maemo 5 to install all the symbian software application (like garmin)? hmm.gif
*
what u mentioned does have a point. N900 is actually a test market instrument for maemo.
I myself like to hack and install apps to symbian,so might as well wait and see what maemo
can do. I'm sure more refined maemo based nokia model will come out soon.

for the past 1 week i've learnt that my n97 mini wont charge properly with generics
in car charger;

1. If the phone still on, it'll charge (bar moving). But if u use gps navigation or watch movie,
the batt will ultimately kong, even if it looks like it's charging
2. If the batt totally kong, it'll never start charging!

Now i already bought nokia dc-6, tested in both situation an it works well!

This lesson costs me rm68 (2 cap ayam car charger+1 ori) and 2 prospective clients i lost
when i cant call them as the phone kong when i reached the meeting point! sad.gif

i assume this is due to the fact that generic car charger only generate max 350mA while the dc-6 gives 550mA. I think the generic car chargers are using the same circuitry since
20 years ago; they just changed the power jacks according to the specific models!

if i buy AP and not zitron and avaxx how??? any diff??? or just the warranty?
*
buy zitron/avaxx. Reason being: this phone got ribbons and internal storage which are not
cheap to replace. My friend paid over rm300 for the ribbon, after an AP company
gave thousand reasons they're not liable to fix it. So think about it since it ap is rm14xx and
ori is rm16xx.

How long does your battery last running GPS? The longest I tried with the E52 by switching on the GPS and left it on the table untouched (i.e., screen blank) for almost 17 hours plus 30 minutes talk time.
*
not sure how long; coz on a daily basis i'll use a combination of gps, wifi and call/sms. Sometimes
i use gps navigation up to 5 destinations daily in klang valley.

By the way bro, u should try to navigate dont just leave it on the table; then see how the power
drains, especially with garmin.

I know real life using of GPS+Navigation will consume more power because the screen is activated and there are voice instruction, both consuming more power. Here are more detail of what I did:
1. Maps switched on for 9 hours but running only in the background so may consume less power due to no Navigation+blank screen.
2. Maps and Navigation switched on for a further 8 hours and phone left on table untouched. While the screen are blank, I know it will consume more power because every now and then, the Navigation voice instruction will comes on and off giving driving instruction.

A total of 17 hours. Battery left with 1 bar and into auto power saving mode but not 100% dry.

On top of that, I used the phone for:
1. 30 minutes talk time.
2. Wifi for about 30 minutes.

Since I do not know whether those figures are considered good or bad, hence my asking about your battery life.
*
considered good already for a symbian nokia. Hehehe.

A friend of mine once drove with n97 mini for almost 4 hours (half navigate+half watch upin &
ipin) before the phone shuts down.
I guess that's pretty much what to expect from a large screen phone with small batt.

Was the N97 mini battery new and original? And fully charged before using? Battery is one of the main reason I stick to the smaller screen E52. IMO, what good is a phone if there is no battery? May just as well be carrying a brick in the pocket.
*
yup it's new and original. if u google around, users in the west also complaining about the n97 mini battery life. i personally think my previous 5800xm last longer.
