Saw many rich 'towkay' using low end Nokia like the 1208. So in comparison, you must already be an millionaire biggrin.gif

for the past 1 week i've learnt that my n97 mini wont charge properly with generics
in car charger;

1. If the phone still on, it'll charge (bar moving). But if u use gps navigation or watch movie,
the batt will ultimately kong, even if it looks like it's charging
2. If the batt totally kong, it'll never start charging!

Now i already bought nokia dc-6, tested in both situation an it works well!

This lesson costs me rm68 (2 cap ayam car charger+1 ori) and 2 prospective clients i lost
when i cant call them as the phone kong when i reached the meeting point! sad.gif

i assume this is due to the fact that generic car charger only generate max 350mA while the dc-6 gives 550mA. I think the generic car chargers are using the same circuitry since
20 years ago; they just changed the power jacks according to the specific models!

How long does your battery last running GPS? The longest I tried with the E52 by switching on the GPS and left it on the table untouched (i.e., screen blank) for almost 17 hours plus 30 minutes talk time.

not sure how long; coz on a daily basis i'll use a combination of gps, wifi and call/sms. Sometimes
i use gps navigation up to 5 destinations daily in klang valley.

By the way bro, u should try to navigate dont just leave it on the table; then see how the power
drains, especially with garmin.

I know real life using of GPS+Navigation will consume more power because the screen is activated and there are voice instruction, both consuming more power. Here are more detail of what I did:
1. Maps switched on for 9 hours but running only in the background so may consume less power due to no Navigation+blank screen.
2. Maps and Navigation switched on for a further 8 hours and phone left on table untouched. While the screen are blank, I know it will consume more power because every now and then, the Navigation voice instruction will comes on and off giving driving instruction.

A total of 17 hours. Battery left with 1 bar and into auto power saving mode but not 100% dry.

On top of that, I used the phone for:
1. 30 minutes talk time.
2. Wifi for about 30 minutes.

Since I do not know whether those figures are considered good or bad, hence my asking about your battery life.

considered good already for a symbian nokia. Hehehe.

A friend of mine once drove with n97 mini for almost 4 hours (half navigate+half watch upin &
ipin) before the phone shuts down.
I guess that's pretty much what to expect from a large screen phone with small batt.

Was the N97 mini battery new and original? And fully charged before using? Battery is one of the main reason I stick to the smaller screen E52. IMO, what good is a phone if there is no battery? May just as well be carrying a brick in the pocket.

You should not have that sort of attitude. With anything electronic, prices go down very fast. TV. Flat Screen TV. Computer. Phone. You name it, they become cheaper very fast.

So if you are afraid of losing money, you will still not have any of those things in your house. May as well go to live in a mountain cave.
