Hello all,

Recently I'm doing internet marketing, and i would like to ask some question here. May I know if we provide the bank account no. and our name to the customer to let them bank in, will it be safe? What I mean here is, with bank account no. and name, the fraudster can use the information to take out the money from the bank (ATM withdraw or direct go to counter to withdraw the money)?

Just want to make sure, as now I encounter someone seems want to stole the information from me through e-mail.... He says that he is interest to buy my item, after I give him my banking detail (Name and Bank Acc No), he say need FULL BANK DETAIL for payment. Since I'm already giving him some detail, just want to know will this enough for them to take away my money or not only...

Please help, thank you icon_question.gif

It is save to provide name and account no in most cases, however it might also open you up to identity theft, why not use paypal o something like that

Not feasable to pay using paypal for local transaction unless you need USD. Even paypal is not safe as the sender can retract the money sent.

For local transaction...if possible do COD.

By the way...what does your buyer meant by FULL BANKING DETAIL? Just giving your account number and name is enough. Do not give I/C number as it's very risky. However, I think there are certain banks that needs I/C info to enable online interbank transfer to be done...I think Public Bank do this for security purpose. Maybank should have no problem.

Why not safe?

Worst case u will just get extra money in your account, and seriously its not easy to get your account frozen.
If someone use ur account to scam, police have to do investigation b4 bank can freeze ur account

If you are afraid of identity theft, each time buyer banked in money to you, you can ask them for proof of transaction. It might not be 100% safe, but it's better than nothing.

Usually conman needs valid h/p number that user registered to the bank. For safety purpose, give your other hp number that have not yet inside bank's info...
