Man, back in 2005 FineTV was offering Digital Interactive television and broadband Internet access at RM35 a month.....compare that with Astro's ridiculously ever-increasing rates with only standard Digital Sattelite TV & Radio, some boring games and no internet access.....with FineTV it was not like Astro, it was Video On Demand (VOD)....you get to select what you want to watch when you want to watch it....you could fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, skip zoom in, zoom out, skip all the stupid advertistments, jump over the announcements etc. like as though the show, movie or news was being played back from a DVD player but only it was coming from a TV station!!!!
Furthermore they had future plans (I think) to incorporate home shopping, interactive TV games, electronic transactions etc (home banking, my card checking etc.)
In other countries which they have been doing since the late 80s they have incorporated network games (GOD - Games On Demand) to play with a user online(X-Box, X-Box 360, Playstation 2, Playstation 3), TV shows, game shows, reality shows where you can submit your selection or choices for a question by using your Interactive TV decoder's remote....Example if a talk show asks you wether the price of chicken is too high? You can press 1 for Yes or 2 for No, interactive movies (movies where you can control the outcome of the movie such as storyline, plot, actors, actions, decision etc.) and there's even something like an online service (AOL)/teletext where you can chat, surf, download, do research etc. but only for TVs.
What ever happened to FineTV....have they gone bust? I wanted to get FineTV in addition to the Astro I already have but was not working then....It would be good if they were still around....they would have revolutionise the way Malaysians watch TV!!
What happened to FineTV?, Interactive TV
