Having problems with the Taiwanese MMO I play. It's similar to the old torrent throttling we've all seen - looks like it works for a few seconds, then abruptly cuts off. Even https having problems.

Perak here.

I checked with tcpview and the strange thing is that when it cuts off, the connection is listed as TCP ESTABLISHED..

What the hell tmnet doing? Rewriting the way the internet works?

Have you guys reported?

Reported yesterday.

Hoped that they would revert whatever changes they did the day before but TMnet is still in denial mode.

Skype still works fine though, so I was wondering what other popular apps they're selectively allowing. WoW working?

My housemate said his whole class felt an earthquake around 6pm today. 14 stories up in shah alam..mb that had something to do with this internet problem.

This started something like two days ago. Unless the routers are clairvoyantly optimised it shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Is it all these problems facing streamyx due to gomen trying to control the net?

More possibly TMNet is furious they can't easily filter out the New And Improved uTP Protocol - when dropping packets fail to work, drop everything! cool2.gif

Here's something interesting. Looks like they've got their filtering set to catch your outgoing packet, see if it's valid, allow a small amount through, then completely kill the connection. Here's an example with attached screenshot. Need help from the rest of you handy with networks to pin it down.

Opera 9.64 Header (No problems - loads well):

Firefox 1.5.0.12 Header (Fails - only a few bits get through. Notice the odd ICMP):

Just logged on and managed to get in my MMO. Rather surprising to see them fix it this late at night. Well, fingers crossed!

Should I go withdraw the CFM complaint?

Nice find! I find it strange this piece of news didn't find its way onto the internet (didn't spot it on the English language media as well). Hope some politico will raise hell with it.
