Hi all! Back before I stopped playing WoW 3 years ago, one of my most fave addons was CTMOD. If I recall correctly, it looks something like the attached screenshot.

See the info bars on the very top of the screen showing xp/hour, time to level, bag space, amount of money, etc etc? I really liked it as it made everything available to be seen with just a glance. Now, since I started playing WoW again, CTMOD was one of the 1st addons that I installed. But...to my frustration, I don't see the info bars on the top & bottom anymore. I've played with the CTMOD settings, but still no info bars. I really need those bars!

So, does anyone know what happened to those info bars, did CTMOD delete that feature? Is it no longer available? Or am I mistaken..and that info bar addon is NOT CTMOD? If so, what addon is it? Any similar addons that will give me the same functionality?

Also, I'd appreciate if you can give me a list of the addons that you can't live without here. For me, being low lvl right now, I use:

1. Auctioneer
2. Questhelper
3. Gatherer
4. Cartographer
5. Basic CTMOD

Most of the above can be obtained from Curse.

those 2 bars (top and bottom) are known as fubar...

the addons i would suggest: -
- bartender4 (for ur action bar)
- elkano buffbars (for ur buff)
- healbot continued (it is grid + decurse combined for raid awareness)
- omniCC (makes ur cooldown clear)
- omen threat meter (threat meter)
- recount (dps, heal, damage etc meter)
- quartz (castbar)
- Xperl unit frames (unit frames)
- watcher (suberb addon for ratation watch)
- questhelper (for lvling)

If you don't like fubar, you can use Titan Panel (also very famous)> I personally use Titan Panel cos I like how it works, and Fubar is a bit too much for me.

i recommend pitbull over xperl for higher customization and lower memory consumption

btw, higher customization = waste at least 4 hours tuning the bar position and combination

I stop using Titan Panel and my FPS improved tremendous when using Fubar. Never looked back.

Same with the CTMods. I don't use them anymore. Although XPerl (which I do use) uses CTRaid for Raid Frames, I think. But since it's rewritten in Ace2, XPerl doesn't take a lot of memory.

Yup, Pitbull is way and above Xperl personally. Never liked Xperl. But BE WARNED. Once you start with Pitbull, you'll be OBSESSED with getting the frames JUST right, and poof, hours have gone by and your UI will look ALMOST the same, but deep in your heart you know it's perfect =P

lol CTMod still alive? I believe you're asking about CTRA with the raid frames.

Anyway the Ace2 version of CTRA is called Ora3 (for the raid stuffs) and SRaidFrames (for the raid frames). However Ora3 doesn't have the main tank windows anymore and neither does SRF. SRF, like CTRA, is highly configurable to display whatever you want to when you want to.

For boss mods you can try DeadlyBossMods @ www.deadlybossmods.com.

You may want to try DoTimers to keep track of your dots/cd timers.

Quartz is another highly popular mod especially for us with high latency. It basically replaces your casting bar with one that displays latency so you know when to spam your buttons more efficiently.

The thing with PitBull is that it can cause latency issue if the streamyx connection cannot sustain the pull of data. i.e. the streamyx port is just bad for that area. XPerl is simpler option but even that can be issues for the same reasons. There are times when I've raided with Blizz default settings.

i do need to agree on this part, but up to certain condition in a sense that a badly configured xperl still sustain issue as badly configured pitbull, if TMNut decides to drive their subscriber nuts.

I spend a lot of time on UI. LOL! But I had to keep things simple because line not so fast, am playing using wireless AND a laptop.

I would still suggest that you consider Fubar rather than Titanbar. Anything that was developed with Ace2 code usually takes less bandwidth except in the case like Recount.

addon's are for whimps that are either too lazy, or people who have no idea and just follows the crowd, ending screaming why they are lagging

you are absolutely fine without addons - the default UI is good enough to cover the things you need to know.

same goes for raiding - i tried healing in a raid with zero addons used. its not easy compared to modded UI, but it still works

if you dont suffer considerable lag after using addons, and do not mind getting creamed for new patch for your mod after every game patch (see how that rings?), go for it

I strongly disagree with this observation. Pitbull does not 'request' more data from the server - all the data is sent anyway, and it's just pulling from the data that your client gets anyway. For example, if you're talking about healcomm's incoming heals - even if you don't have pitbull enabled, if someone else has that mod, you'll get spammed by that person's addon as well.
If your COMPUTER is not strong enough then having too much information, then Pitbull might be a bad thing. However, if you can stand it and is willing to spend hours customising yours, you'll never look back. There's no other unit frames that I find as flexible and customisable as Pitbull.

If you're worried about resources, rather than those 2, you should also try LDB (LibDataBroker). It's a truly modular format that's meant to replace Fubar/Titanbar, and if you want the bar look, you can go for Ninja Panel or Fortress as your LDB Display. It's very lightweight and all the newer addons normally have a LDB output too.

When you buy a new house, the house is sufficient. You can stay in it, protect you from rain and sun. Do you not buy furniture for it? If you do, you're a wimp?

Understand the concept of how addons can cause lag to you - not all addons even communicate with each other. Don't spread misconceptions that addons are for lazy people and whatnot, because I'm pretty sure every single top player in the world uses at least some addons. Unless you're better than them then you do not have the right to call them lazy, as they're more hardworking than you in the game.

Granted, you can play 'okay' with the default UI. The human brain can only do so much at a time, and addons are there to help you simplify your task. Just because you can carry a pack of 10kg rice from Tesco and walk home doesn't mean that's the best way to do it. If you insist, sure, you can, but I'd rather drive a car and put it in the boot.

well try healing hardmode contents where every possible help is much needed...
that's all i say...

healing in hardmode content- add on really make a diff. grid + additional setup will help a lot specially in anub HM.

healing slower by 1 sec could mean some1's death...
not only that u gotta heal the right target and not clash wit the other healers...

its not the concept of 'house lacking hardware' - but more like 'house is not pimped = not house'

the addons does help with additional data - but not to a point where everything is necessary, or even 'must' where some coined so, where the fact is they ARE lazy - you do not need a flashing big text popping on your screen to keep your party members alive, nor do you need some 'extra tools' just so you know what to do with a quest (READING SKILLS IS NOT HARD).

World of Warcraft raids was never designed with addons in mind - the best example is how blizzard's stand on addons. there is NO official support for addons, nor any updates for them. Every new patch does not cater for addon compatibility - it is absolutely up to you as the user and the creators to update them on your own accord

and your own risks as well - as far as tech support goes, they had more addon compatibility issues than bugs/balance issues.

and Reports of addon crashing your Wow/bugging them out is also not something uncommon

And if one remembers the issue of the Glider Addon, where blizzard has finally won the court case - they have updated their UI policy as well. If you guys dont have interest in reading the whole document, its simple: when you log in, u clicked 'Agree' on following their User Rights Agreement; which the policy allows them to disable any addons, at any time, at their choice, without the need of even telling you, the user.

IF one finds that the addons do help them, which some do find so, it is absolutely fine that they keep using it - things like hard mode raids can use some extra help since there's alot going on. blizzard does not officially say 'no addons guys'

what i personally disagree, is how some person deemed addons as a 'must' thing if you must do 'something'.

you Dont need addons for raids, you Dont need addons for PvP - and you certainly Dont need addons for Questing as well. This game was NEVER designed with addons in mind, and the official standing is they do NOT support any addons.

you ARE free to use addons - but on YOUR own risk, and YOUR own choice.

i simply took the easier/harder way - surviving without the additional 'tools', and learned to enjoy living without hectic patching every time a new patch comes around
