how bout bijou 3?its about rm170.maybe u could stretch ur budget a bit.try bijou 3,less bass, but really detail and quite bright.

yeah, the bijou seems like a nice choice too. i've been eying the iem for a long time already, hoping that the price will drop, but it doesnt... sweat.gif and i really like the appearance of the bijou too, the gunmetal finish really looks good. but it's still a bit above the budget... even rm150 is actually a stretched budget.. original budget was about rm100... sweat.gif are there any other suggestions? thanks anyway bro! biggrin.gif

hi guys, i'm currently using soundmagic PL20, which i think is a great IEM for it's price. but now i'm thinking of upgrading. i'm not using any soundcard or headamps. what kind of earphones could u guys suggest for a strict budget of less than rm150? i'm the sort of person who listens to a lot of vocals and oldies, and i prefer clarity instead of bass. currently interested with Crossroad Mylarone SVi (RM70). is this ok? or do u guys have better suggestions? prefer earbuds, iem also ok, but not headphones though.. sweat.gif thanks in advance!! biggrin.gif

*really interested in the HR2 actually, but way out of budget... sweat.gif
*
Actually you prefer earbud... can try xbrand2 or xbrand 1, both also within your budget. I have 3 of them. PL20 is my first IEM, i am enjoy it so much until i get expose to my another earbud, pk3. After you listen to pk3, you will found that PL20 is really lack of bass. You need to push hard in order to get a satisfy bass for PL20. Pk3 also have a good clarity and detail just warmer and the bass is quite good. pk3 has a large quantity of bass but the quality of bass is just satisfactory.

Come back to xbrand2, i just get the both demo unit recently. (Too shame that, i just received the demo unit after a long time i coordinate the bulk for both the earphone). After i try them personally, I was surprised how good is the sound at the price. I also wonder how come Huangyong selling this earbud at this price. sweat.gif But since i am just a helper, so i cant comment so much on his pricing. BUT for the SQ, the xbrand2 will even better than pk3 which cost around Rm130++. Clarity and detail, xbrand2 is slightly better than pk3 but just the sound is bright and not as warm as pk3. For the bass, there are few buyer say that the xbrand2 is bass shy. To my ears, the xbrand2 has better bass than PL20 in terms of quality and quantity as well. If compare xbrand2 to pk3 in terms of bass, pk3 will have better bass quantity. But for bass quality xbrand2 will be better. xbrand2 bass have better control and accuracy. nod.gif

Sound signature:

xbrand2 (bright)
PL20 (bright)
PK3 (warm when compare to another 2)

Clarity & detail
xbrand2 > PK3 >PL20

Bass quantity (amount)
PK3> xbrand2> PL20

Bass quality
xbrand2 > PK3 > PL20

Packaging
PK3>PL20>xbrand2

Price (>= cheaper)
Xbrand2 > PL20 > PK3

Just another choice for you. No offense. Please take noted that i am not a basshead. I am looking for balanced and great sounding all the time. cool.gif

Hello,

I am a noob in audiophile.....Need recommendation here...
Anyway, i would like to get a new headphone
- plug on ipod & laptop (*music mainly*)
- listen to Jazz, Blue, Grooves & Rock (although almost all sorts...these are the main ones)
- Budget is bout RM300 (increase in budget is fine)
- wouldn't want it to be too bulky
- I'm quite a bassy person bt being able to listen to small details of a song is also preferable.

Thanks y'all

well,i would recommend u audio technica m30,but if u could stretch the budget, maybe audio technica A series,as it a closed type, more bass compare to AD type which is open.maybe A300.

now i see ur "dont want to be bulky" point.then maybe audio technica FC700 smile.gif

xbrand2 is not comparable to pk2 yet. But xbrand2 is comparable to pk3.

Huangyong own pk2. From him, xbrand1 will be the one comparable to pk2. I don't have pk2 so cant really make a comparison. tongue.gif

actually, in these 5 months, i've been reading a lot of reviews from iLounge. from the reading, i found out some terms like 'enjoying the music' and 'monitoring the music'. for me, i think i'm more towards enjoying the music rather than monitoring it because my ear is not that sensitive. the only thing i can differentiate (may be not accurate) is the strength of bass in some songs.

furthermore, the fact that i have some extra money give me the chance to have a new earphone for my itouch. from my survey, people always say the earphone that comes with the itouch is crappy haha

as i said before, i like love songs. songs that are slow and allow me to digest what the song contents is. i wish i can have an earphone that is rich with bass without compromising the clarity of the sound. it will be a bonus if it is also good in the low and mid range music.

Are you SURE you want the ER6i if you're not into "monitoring"? They are supposed to have GREAT clarity but crappy-ish bass and small soundstaging (due to the deep insertion)? So these should not fit your "rich in bass" requirement, and the small soundstage mauls love songs.

Plus they're expensiveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee over here (RM600?!?). For about the same amount of dough, IMHO you're better of with the Audeo PFE (RM530)... biggrin.gif

My recommendations: Klipsch S4 (More bass, okay clarity - around RM380 from garage tumpang Amazon dealers), Head-Direct RE0 (GREAT clarity, okay bass amped, acceptable bass unamped - RM380 or so from Head-Direct.com) - both cost a littttttttttttle bit more, but should keep you happy, especially the RE0 for clarity on love songs.

And if you don't mind great bass/ok clarity RM250 headphones that need DIY upon arrival (epoxy glue - crap build) and comes with NO WARRANTY (which nobody in their right mind should be - except maybe me) - read up on the Cyclone PR2 as well. The bass on these are supposed to sound ALMOST as good as the RM500-600 JVC FX500 and Atrio M5 (according to my research - I only have the PR2 and to me they sound phenomenal for the price - sure beats the heck out of the SP1 for bass impact and soundstaging).

A shame they came apart in my hands 20 minutes after I started auditioning them (was trying to get one of the silicone tips off) - thankfully without affecting the drivers... Having no warranty what so ever, I pried them BOTH open and epoxy cemented them both to hell... biggrin.gif

Just to add,i chat with one fellow forumer who happen to be an owner of phonak audeo pfe,he said its a great iem, just in bass department, its too shy and when amped with E5, the bass overloaded.so u just have to live with little bass or overpowered bass smile.gif .owh,he also an owner of SP1, and he likes it,including in bass department.just to share smile.gif

My experience with Klipsch's IEMs are they aren't strong in bass, just enuf for ur ears, they've pretty gd in term of clarity, Klipsch is suitable for you if you're classical musics lover, not hip hop type of musics. However, I've nvr try the Klipsch S4 b4 but I guess the sound signature should resembles its brothers from another mothers xD

There're 2 bass mode on the E5 rite, pushing it to the slightly lower bass side should do the trick I think(at least it works on the Klipsch xD )
