dudes out there. Dudett here needing help.

Just bought a Panasonic Plasma, HD ready. 40inch.

Well, bought it for watching Astro of course but then, is it normal for the whole tv to flicker madly after a whole round of PS2 gaming??

I mean, its new.
and, my parents keep complaining to me on stop gaming on the TV and said that it will 'hurt' or 'decrease it's life span' some sort? Last time i heard from the technician was tube tvs will die easily if i use it for gaming.

But, does gaming using plasma tvs make any difference?

if yes.. why?
if no, then why is my tv flickering like crazy? =3=

I suspect the cables used for the PS2 is not properly grounded or insulated.

Try another cable and make sure its separated from other cables (especially the power cables).

Likewise, iirc Pana plasma don't have 40inch.

Nevertheless, it shouldn't flicker.

Also, Panasonic plasma TVs averages around 60K hours lifespan, iirc. Google if you want the source.

Buying HDTV is not for Astro. It's for the future where BD will get cheap, like how DVD was back then.

IMHO by then better to upgrade and get something bigger than 40 inches... brows.gif

No point buying FullHD now then wait for price of Blu-Rays to drop...

I think FHD TVs prices will drop proportionately faster compared to BD prices ...

woops, rechecked the series. Its 42inch.

Its not full HD. Its just HD ready.

Nothing wrong with the cabling and stuff. Flickering ceased after i turn off and turn the tv back on.

It flickers after i turn off my ps2 and ps3 and when i turn on astro, it still flickers like those old age tube tvs. Then i turned it off and turned it back on, its ok again.

weird.

should i go get a new one ==

If I understand what u r saying, no flicker when using PS3 and PS2? However, after switching to Astro, there is flickering. Then when u switch TV off and on no flicker, correct?

PS3 hooked up thru HDMI? PS2 hooked up to TV with component?

1st thing to check is the cable from Astro to TV, if still persists after changing cable, call Panasonic to come take a look.

NO flicker when playing,
FLICKER after playing
turn to astro STILL flickering

PS3 thru HDMI slot and the usual red white yellow. Same goes to PS2 and the astro.

problem is WHY it flicks
