Yes, you can still toilet train him at 3 months old. It would have been better if you are home to train him for the first week or so.

I think it's good to crate/cage train him. You can also use the cage to toilet train, each time you let him out, take him to the place where you want him to pee and poo. As he grows older and more stable, you can get a playpen to keep him in when you go to work. It is good to give him some toys to keep him occupied. A stuffed Kong toy is good. He will be so busy with the Kong that he will not realise that you have gone!

You can also use the crate and stuffed Kong whenever you want to take a bath. In time, he will get into your routine. Putting him in a crate or playpen should not be a punishment and please do not keep him confine for the whole day. He needs to interact and play with you too so do spend time to play with him, training him some basic commands is a good way.

Please remember he is still a puppy and that he is away from his daddy or littermate and in a new environment for the first time. Try to make it easy for him to adapt to the new environment. Spend some time with him and pretty soon he will get use to the new place and your routine.
