I wonder did our government really think of developing these two states?

A couple of days ago I went to Sabah for an assignment but seems there is no improvement at all compare to the last time I went about 6 years ago.

Why is that the case?

Sabah and Sarawak are great potentials
The people are friendly there, there are minimal racial discrimination.
Sabah and Sarawak have plenty of natural resources.
It has potential to grow into a South East Asia hub for business, sports, leisure and education.

The locals there told me that Najib once said that the roads in East Malaysia are far more better than West Malaysia, but what I saw is some roads are even worse than those in India or Indonesia. Not even a highway is built.

There is no need to have highways just like PLUS in Sabah and Sarawak, it is unfeasible.

We just need want good quality roads....

Somehow I don't feel a sudden growth development will be good. Even they opened lot of commercial area, shops but nobody going to buy it. It will end up being occupied by jobless foreigners eg <insert country here>

i hav no idea about sabah, but i am from sarawak.
its not so true that there's no highway there, some of de places do hav highway. i think its bcoz the cities n places are very centralize therefore not much highway is needed.
last yr when i go bk to my hometown i saw flyover and sign board, i feel very funny. i think its the first flyover in my hometown tho, and de sign board is confusing. anyway, while de place being improve, cost living tends to be increase and also the teenagers at my hometown is just like lala n ah beng in kl which i dont feel good. its like the place hav been polluted

*
Great Potential for you to Exploit the natural resources like what West Malaysian UMNO did on Sabah.

If you are not from East Malaysia, please go back to your west. Bcos these resources is for Sabah & sarawakian future generation. Its not You to teach us what to do.Its us who finance you & you should be aware your West never actually offer anything in return besides exploitation & cronyism.

Besides, you are just judging from tip of an Iceberg, not know whats actually real situation.

why need shopping complex? At the end of the day, the purchasing power not even as strong as developed country.
Go look yr selangor la dude...here there shopping mall. How Many shopping Mall that actually utilised to full capacity? Last times Times Square very cool wor...now like shit....last time those BB area cool wor..now...dead tourist area....so does a Shopping Mall feasible for people in Sarawak? no. Basically rubbish building. Pasar Malam returns even better.

not sure which part of sabah u went to, but i went back to kk after around a year and it seemed to have loads of new roads, flyovers, and upcoming malls. compared to when the only hang out place was center point, i think that's quite an improvement.

Sandakan, they have 3.....KK, from south to the north of KK........Tawau, they have one big department store building (Servay + Parkwell) and anchor tenant of Tawau's first modern shopping centre, the Eastern Plaza
