Hi, I would like to know how much to install the door frame.

I had gone to ask some hardware shop which selling door. They mostly didn't provide door frame installation and i need to assigned a contractor to do the concrete works with the steel frame.

Is there anybody can give me a good bargain on:-

i) Concrete touch up/plastering work for 8 door openings & dumping the old doors+frames. I had taken out 7 door frames for termite eliminating purposes.

ii) Installation of 3 standard steel door frame plus 1 big entrance 1380mm(W) x 2025mm(H) steel door frame.

as far as I know the workmanship charges for installation of door frame is about RM300-400 per wooden door frame.

well...that cost a lot...only for the concrete work...because so far I asking around the frame for steel door frame around RM65-RM70 . If the installation of the door frame only already take RM 300~400/unit.

In the end the frame is more expensive than my solid door panel. :~ really bad case.

actually you see, when u install frame, u need to hack walls, concrete work, when u install the frame, u need to makesure the frame go straight into the floor not just hang halfway or else ur door might falls off due to door weight. Its not as simple as hit n knock. U need to makesure the wall is straight too.,as well as the floor is level otherwise ur door will have to be cut "sland" one side. The door frame price depend on which type of word you use and the size also i.e single door,1.5 doors or double door.

Steel door frame is not a good choice becos the internal of the frame all fill with cement only compare to wooded frame which is solid. If you are thinking of installing nice decorative door with tempered glass 18mm, those steel frame will not be able to withstand the weight in long term. In worst case, the door might falls off due to the factory installed thin door hinges. While wooded frame will give you plenty of choice to choose the hinges from low end to high end type.

Usually, for door frame the most commonly available are those wood like resak and nyatoh and got some other cheaper type but that one is not recommended as they don't last long.

u can still install wooded door frame, just do chemical treatment before the iinstallation will do. Normally, those steel frame don't fit those factory standard size door hence u end up with more expensive door which must be customize or u will end up with a door of toilet frame size i.e 30 inch or 27 inch. smile.gif

Btw metal frame r plenty around, any hardware shop will hv them. Remember to check the size yourself, some contractor r equally blur as the owner, you should make sure the internal size of the frame at least 33 inch width to fit standard size door.
