If u watch the derby game.. u can see how close berba to score 2 goals with his header.. especially the second one, i even jump to celebrate... haihz

thanks to Given spectacular saves..

Actually the header was too damn near the keeper, if I recall correctly. Badly needs a goal, in my view.

Icy, I think Wazza tu Rooney la.

Why no Valencia in anyone's lineup? Although he has disappointed so far (looks half the player he was at Wigan), that may be due to a lack of a proper run of games.

QUOTE(nimrod2 @ Sep 27 2009, 12:44 PM)
well i think it's sometimes frustrating to watch him play. he often takes too much time on the ball and wastes alot of opportunity.
there are many times where he could thread the pass or just simply take the shot for himself, but he just holds on to the ball.
maybe he lacks of confidence or trying too hard who knows.
he just needs to make up his mind better. his style of play is too readable.

well fletcher was kinda crappy two seasons ago. but now he's matured.
i believe nani was crappy two seasons ago. but he's still the same today.
ahaha that is the point. there is no improvement.

well i believe the reason MU is doing so well now is cos the fringe players like fletcher, o'shea and maybe evra has stepped up their game.
now there is no weakness in all the positions of MU.
last time there were excellent players (rooney, ronaldo, scholes maybe?) and the others were abit of the "weak link"
now everyone has stepped up their game and they are a good team all around as a whole.
much much better.
*
No complaints on the Stoke match. The players got the job done.

However, I agree that Nani is making all the wrong decisions, and remains the most frustrating player in the squad for me. In flashes, Nani has shown he has the ability. It's the consistency that is the problem. Hopefully with Ronnie gone, he will get a run of games that will help hem get that.

By the way, Fletch has improved because he's now playing centre midfield. His crappy days was when he was playing wide right. I used to groan out loud whenever I saw Ferguson playing that way.

Also, since when has Evra ever been a fringe player??

I'd hate to think of the inevitable day when he hangs up his boots.

Why suddenly Carrick not SAF favourite anymore ?
*
So far as I can tell, Carrick has been pretty much a passenger in the team when he's playing. Nothing but safe side and back-passes. Forward passes tended to be over/under-hit. So it's not surprising he's been dropped. Especially with the way Scholesy, Fletcherinho and Anderson-son-son has been playing.

Mind you, he started last season in the same vein as well, but grew in importance as the season wore on. Still has the annoying tendency to go invisible when it matters most, though (e.g. CL Final vs Barcelona).

Wah, Wan... such a long post. Lunch break, ka?

I'm all for giving Nani a decent run. However, he must realise he needs to buck up soon and show us that talented side of him that we all know he has, somewhere deep inside that Michael Jackson suit.

QUOTE(Wan @ Sep 29 2009, 02:44 PM)
Everyone was missing in that Barca game though. Ando was useless, Giggs can't do anything, and Carrick obviously can't hold that midfield on his own. IMO, in a 433 game, he's important for us. Stick him next to Fletcher and someone else, you would see our midfield work. Before his form dipped and Fletcher grew into the player he is today last year, I thought he was the important piece in the middle. Even though he's not as good as Scholes was/is, but his role in the team is of far more importance. Right now on a bad run of form.. but he will get that form back. November-December he should be back to his normal self.. unless Fletcher, Scholes and Ando keep him out of the team beyond that, but he should still get games.
*
Methinks Fletch's supension and the lack of a mad Scotsman thereof snapping at Messi's and Xavi's heels also contributed to that debacle.

King Giggsy is becoming more of a 'Second Half Savior' or a '90-minute Big Game Man' (the latter is after being rested in the previous game) due to his age and his position. Fergie should start adding Tosic into the mix instead of just having either Nani or Giggs on the left side. It'll remind Nani that there are others within the club itself who can replace him if he doesn't buck up. This isn't his first season at the club, how much longer do we have to wait until he's finally developed his footballing brains? doh.gif
*
Tosic has been nowhere near the first team squad. What's happened to the boy? Dah la not in the Champions' League squad.

Having said that, everytime I've seen him, he's been a little too small and lightweight to be playing as a winger, especially in the EPL. He's done well for Serbia though by all accounts, and has a handy left foot, apparently.

Tosic hasn't even got his real first team opportunities due to pack of midfield in our team. We don't even know if he is good or not good enough for us. So judging him is good only for teams like portsmouth/burnley NOW is wrong. It's still early bro...

Ferguson wants him to develop slowly so he is playing for our reserves team first. Even highly rated macheda/welbeck ain't got their opportunities yet.

Judging from that, a good example is lassana diarra. He was just a sub for arsenal and chelsea but joined portsmouth at the age of 23 then won a cup with them at that season. Now he is playing for real madrid, considered one of the best DM in the world...
*
I agree. Tosic hasn't even had a decent run. Waay too early to judge yet.

Wonder if we will go with 433 as we usually do in CL.. hope not, but it's the CL.

Fletcher-Scholes-Ando
Valencia-Rooney-Nani

Rest Giggs for the weekend?
*
Probably. I can't remember the last time SAF played 442 in the CL. Apart from when he played the English sides, I think.

Thought we had a good game. Wolfsburg can break with surprising speed actually, but to be honest they did not look that dangerous, apart from when Rio or Vida decided to fool around instead of tackling from time to time.

We do need to take our chances more often though, and should have scored more. I don't think their keeper looked solid at all.

The good news is Carrick is looking better. I know it's only one game, but if Carrick could play like that day-in, day-out, we may not miss Scholesy so much when he's rested.

Still, without a midfield enforcer (I don't consider Anderson-son-son one of those types), we looked a bit without a bite in the first half. Much better in the second half when the tempo was increased. I wonder why we never seem to play with a high tempo in the first half. But then again I never expected SAF to play 442 tonight so I'll let him do his job whichever way he wants. tongue.gif

If can get Berba exquisite back heel lagi naise..
I miss Teddy and Ole super sub moment.
*
In the Wolfsburg game, there was a moment when Anderson-son-son took a pass from Rooney, backheeled a pass to Berba, who backheeled back to Rooney, whose shot was a bit weak & easily saved by the keeper.

Had Rooney scored then, I think I would have died and gone to heaven right there and then.

Added on October 2, 2009, 8:57 amJosh King looks superb, btw. I think Ole was comparing him to John Carew recently.

So many Norwegians at the reserves. Eikrem, King, Hussain...

Ignore the title.. it was Neil Custis of The Sun.

Neil Custis.. what a right *bleep*. But then again, it IS The Sun. Macam Malay Mail jugak lah in Malaysia.

Josh King reminds me of Rossi for some reason. Looks too good to be playing reserve football, but not there yet as a first-teamer. Anyway, he's got time on his side, only 17.

That's Magnus Eikrem, I think. Norwegian boy, been in the academy & reserves for a couple of seasons, but really filled up and started performing well now.

To be fair, Welbeck's only 18 (turning 19 only in Nov). So we shouldn't expect the same level of experience, maturity and overall awesomeness as Grandpa Giggsy.

Having said that, I don't think I ever felt so frustrated at United's general play as I did in the match against Sunderland. Probably similar to how the Champs League final last year felt like. You just know the team is capable of so much better.

i almost pulled all my hair out during the first half.
damn freaking stress. they didnt get anything right.
even the two most consistent players (rooney + scholes) played like crap.
duno what they were doing.

*
My sentiments exactly. It was like they all forgot how to pass the ball, which was weird especially for Scholesy... kept giving the ball away every 3 seconds.

At one point the Sunderland fans were shouting "Ole!" every time their players passed the ball. That, in itself, made me lose a few clumps of hair.

I will badly miss Andy Gray and Martin Tyler. They both are my favorite commentators.

I quite noob at this. All this long Astro is depending on ESPN or SkySport broadcast? So if Astro got the rights of broadcasting BPL, this mean there will be a dedicated football package with more football channel? So there will be no more Football Focus? No more John Dykes? No more BPL highlights? More crappy commentators and less lively football match because Astro don't have enough football commentators? Sorry to say this but Malaysian football commentators know nuts about football. Poor proficiency on English and the last thing I want is the football match being commentated by Malay language.
*
Andy Gray's ejaculatory goal announcements (no really, you should listen to him whenever gerrard scores) while amusing, gets kind of annoying after some time. Martin Tyler, on the other hand, is okay.

I don't know if anyone still remembers John Motson for the BBC Match of The Day. Funniest commentator I've ever seen, definitely.
