hello,

im new to caring for leather and i've done some "research" over google to maintain my RW and W 1K boots - through reading forums and product reviews..

my preference for boot care kit would be:

1. for the leather to stay conditioned and not dry
2. leather to maintain its colour
3. water repellent not water proof
4. natural shine
5. stuff that i really need - nothing too fancy

so, after reading many forums and product review, it came down to:

1. having "good" horsehair brush. thinking of getting AE but they were given bad reviews - hair coming off easily even after many use. any other brands to recommend other than RW (RM50)? Saw some unbranded ones (RM35) at Tangs and it looked similar to the german made ones - they were given good ratings by shoe enthusiast at large. But are they the same kind?

2. shoe conditioner/cream. venetian shoe cream vs. saphir reno vs. montana pitch blend. im going with vsc over saphir bcoz of the price and minimal difference (refer: http://imgur.com/a/EC8gN) and excluded montana as they darken leather. Obenauf is highly recommended for boots by i dont think i need the heavy stuff for our dry weather..

3. heel and edge protector - nothing extensive so i assume any brand would do?

4. clean rag/inner shirts for buffing

appreciate any thoughts on these products and if someone could point me to where i can get VSC locally.

thank you!

Horse hair brush u can get at isetan for around rm13 for the small ones. It will do a decent job. //what's the brand?

As for protections, i have venetian leather balm and for me its quite ok. I got it for free with the purchase of my boot. On the other hand, obenaufs are the best leather protection ive tried. Bought it a a month ago and use it on my chromexcel leather boot... Wow, i am really satisfy with it! //anyway of getting the venetian locally? as for obenaufs.. do we really need waterproofing? and where did you get them?

Another thing u need to consider is a shoe tree. Cedar shoe tree is for maintaining the the shape and also get rid of that odor of ur shoes. That thing does not come cheap thou. //you are right sir. for cedar shoe tree am still researching.. any recommendation?

The horse hair brush? No brand

The obenaufs i have to order online. I ordered a couple so if u want it we can talk about it more in PM

Woodlore should be ok. Thou the price can be kindda expensive if u want to get locally. Online is ur best bet

Thanks bro. Will check out the horse hair brush and em shoe trees.

As for the obenaufs, still in dilemma - wanting the VSC (shipping for online is crazy) vs. obenaufs that i can get locally from you. Let me get back to you on that.

Thanks again!

Oh.. how many do you plan to buy? wouldn't the shipping kill you?

need advice.

so i recently moved and after wearing a pair of my wolverine boots with leather outsole, i left it out at my porch. (normally i'd clean and put it in the shoe cabinet)

i completely forgot about it and fast forward 2 months, yesterday i found that mold has fully covered the outsole.

which shop can i send it for repair. watched youtube on how to clean it and dont think am able to clean it properly.
