Thanks both I will check out Bata too. I googled what you guys meant by 'cemented' and it seems like a way of constructing your shoe.

'Cement construction involves a process where the upper part of your shoe is shaped and completed separately from the sole and the attached with adhesive and no welts or stitching.'

One cons that I read is that usually this type of shoe has a shorter lifespan?

I would recommend clarks too. Tomaz has the plastic shiny leather on their shoes which will eventually crack after a few wears.

Clarks price are a step above tomaz but mitsui outlet clarks are 200 and above. Or wait for clarks lazada sale, quite a few deals

I think Clarks price are reasonable as it's very comfortable to wear for long periods but just that design wise  puke.gif.

Bumping up an old question; am browsing for formal shoes within RM100-200 (preferably) or RM200-300 if I can get a proper quality pair.

But from what I can see, RM100-200 is still mostly faux / PU leather.
I saw lots of Clarks recommendations but their prices are just about over budget.
I saw lots of Tomaz wearers but some of them complained their shoes broke within months
I saw quite some Hush Puppies wearers who claimed decent lifespan, but when I check out their website, their shoes only mentioned "cow leather"; not full grain or top grain, and it seems like they use the low-grade cementing type of construction.

Any up-to-date tips and recommendations? All the while I've only bought cheapskate generic shoes from Bata/Parkson/Aeon, so its probably time to upgrade.

Add: Will prefer a physical store as I have flat feet and will need to try them on before buying.

Guys, any good recommendations for more formal shoes at the RM200-RM300 pricepoints? Like some solid bang for buck money shoes below that price will also be good too. Don't wanna break the bank trying to look good lol

There are no dress shoes in your price range that will not be cemented. The cheapest I know off would be Zeve Shoes.

So if you plan to stick to that budget, just get what you think looks nice. Better yet, get 2 and rotate them.

ouch. but surely rm200-300 shoes will be better quality............ right.... As in using proper leather and last longer..

I find Bata and Hush Puppies shoes quite comfortable. Tomaz has good design but the shoes aren't comfortable, toes will hurt after wearing them for long hours.

Have your shoes lasted a decently long time?

Don't wear the same pair 2 days in a row, let it rest.
Use shoe trees when shoes are not in use.
If it gets soaked, allow it to dry naturally. If this happens to you often, you will probably need to get a 3rd shoe in your rotation so you aren't forced to wear the same pair 2 days in a row while waiting for a pair to dry.

Nah I seldom wear my dress shoes, only for special formal occasions. My previous pair has been worn....... probably less than 10 times laugh.gif

Within the RM300 budget, Clarks may be your best choice when they have big discounts or at Outlets.
Look for the Blake Stitched ones instead of cemented if possible.
Lift up the insole and see if you can see stitches around the front, example below.

thanks for the tip! when you say outlets do you mean like Parkson and Aeon, or Clarks' own stores?
