I noticed from your pictures, you only wax polish the toecaps and such. So creams on the vamp I assume.
New in this, and the thread is huge. So I'd like to ask, is cream really necessary? As far as my reading tells me, it functions to preserve the color and the conditioning effects are debatable. So assuming I use renovateur on my shoes, would putting cream serve any other purpose other than to preserve color like said? Or am I good to go if I just regularly use renovateur without polishes.

Still shopping for a cream, minus the hassle of shipping from overseas. My priority is more towards protecting the shoes, cosmetics come second at this stage. Very much appreciate your input.
*
You're right, I usually apply shoe cream first and then hard wax on areas that aren't flexing. The polish not only preserve colour but it hides any scuffs and just refreshes the overall look of the shoe. I do believe it also protects the leather against water penetration.

I much prefer to go through the usual application of conditioner, cream and wax. Not skimping on it tongue.gif I try to polish at least once a week and condition when needed. The renovatuer can strip off wax since it's also a cleaner so I tend to use it sparingly.
I would recommend Saphir which you can get from AFinePairofShoes.co.uk

Wow..so wet shine..how u do that?
*
It's a spit shine, of course without the spit. You just need to apply wax polish on the toe cap in successive layers. As it builds up you can add a bit of water and a touch of wax. The shine will eventually come through. It's a little harder to apply on lighter shoes and takes a lot longer. Patience and practice is key smile.gif

Gotta post some photos of your results.

Went to crockett and jones, barker, trickers store in jermyn street. Best service is at crockett and jones. Sales person was informstive and helpful. First time i have ppl actually measured my feet, give recommendations and even put on the shoes for me. Felt like a VIP. Tried on a bunch of shoes...

The service at barker though were dissapointing as the salesperson werent very well informed of its own products. Trickers meanwhile, were behaving quite disinterested in serving (maybe coz i face problem or what). But in the end also have to reluctantly bring out the shoes to let me try. Hehe.

I have to agree, CJs service is exceptional and this applies to most of their stores I've been to.
Trickers is an odd one, I just go there to check out its interior. John Lobb and Edward Green isn't too bad either when they are a bit more relaxed.

Here's my new CJ Camberley purchase. wub.gif

thanks bros. The inner lining does look a bit off from the pics but the outer is fine.

There's a Super Trunk show happening next month in London and I'll be there to check out a few other shoemakers particularly Vass. Will post some photos when the time comes

I believe it's normal. I checked my other shoes, mainly around the eyelet where it's been punched through and they are white. A bit of polish should blend those scuffs in.

how do u do mirror shine for your shoes ? using kiwi & brush + abit of water from the army ?  tongue.gif
*
Don't really use kiwi, I have it somewhere but shelved away now. Most of my shoes are shined with saphir.
My routine:

- Brush
- Renovateur (if needed)
- Saphir Pommadier Cream to cover any marks and to condition and then brush
- Pate de Luxe Wax all over shoe with focus on the toe cap and heel. Buff with cloth once it's dried. I repeat about 3 layers
- More hard wax on cap until smooth with a bit of water (spit shine at this point)
- Lastly top up with Saphir Mirror Gloss Wax (optional)

However once you get the mirror shine, everyone will be looking at your feet sweat.gif It's inevitable.

Wow bro, that is some serious hardworking method you use to shine your shoes ! HAha thanks for sharing man. maybe i will just use the cream and wax & brush ... not to the extent of all your routine haha.. how long u need to make your shoes so shiny ?
*
Lol.. new shoes always take a bit longer to polish but over time the shine is easier to achieve and maintain. Not sure how long it takes me.. maybe about an hour or more? But then much quicker after that.

Popped by George Cleverly last week after the Trunk Show in Mayfair.

One of the nicest Shoetrees packaging I've come across. The insides of the box is lined with a velvety material.

user posted image

The embroided cloth is a nice touch but serves no purpose, but still it's nice to have.

I'll post some photos of the trunk show soon smile.gif

Haha. Yeah I was following the super trunk show and saw a familiar name. Was excited about the Yohei Fukuda RTW launch, but alas, 1500 quid is way too rich for me.

thumbsup.gif haha, I don't have to post pics then
biggrin.gif unless if the rest wants to see them.

Here's the white monks if some of you are wondering. It's from Carlos Santos, surprisingly it fits really really well with good arch support.

Lol, I was actually thinking the other day. I probably won't ever need to resole my shoes.

Anyway, my office space is all carpeted and I barely have to walk on the pavement. It's carpark to office to carpark and home. If I know I'm out in the streets for a long time, I tend to use the ones with Dainite soles.

Speaking of that, I just picked up another pair of Cheaneys yesterday tongue.gif

Figured so! One walk on gravel and those soles would look a lot worse than it is in your pics. Lol.

These days I prefer dainite soles because it's a lot longer lasting and more comfortable. Pity it's a lot less common.
*
It's been on pavements before but it didn't do too bad. I guess it's the exposure to water/rain that messes it up.

Here's the new Cheaneys innocent.gif
I was thinking maybe something for rainy days with less maintence. Also I'm toying with the idea of getting a custom made Cheaneys on the 1 of 1 programme.

Wasn't thinking of another shoe but then got invited to the Cheaney Ambassador evening over at Covent Garden few days ago. Met with Mr Church himself and also placing an order for a semi bespoke 1 of 1 Cheaneys. It's been a great evening with drinks and meeting like minded people.

My colleague's pair of shoes was in tatters so I offered to do it up for him. It was quite in a state when he brought it over. It should be in the bin really.

Before

user posted image

A bit of clean up with renovateur and conditioning

user posted image

After

Some cream polish to minimise the scuffings and wax polish to bring out the shine. Decided to do a light mirror shine on the toe cap but didn't want to over egg it. Wasn't quite sure if he want it that shiny and I didnt want to spend too much time on it.
