QUOTE(booby @ Jan 18 2010, 11:56 AM) but i got to know someone who has the same degree with me starting to get paid >3k. His cgpa is 3.9. At first i got the same thinking like u guys, no experience means u cant demand higher pay. Tats y im here to clarify things, cgpa really means nothing? Cannot demand for higher pay? Of course you can, if and only if you can justify your demands to the employer. (stating that your friend has 3k+ at so and so, doesn't count) My CGPA when I graduated was only 2.4 and I demanded 2.6k... Ended up with more than I requested... Do note, that I have other IT certifications on hand. But as a safety net, always add the word (Negotiable) next to it. You never know as there might be a job with a high potential of career advancement and travelling opportunities even though the pay is peanuts. QUOTE(romba @ Feb 5 2010, 01:51 PM) Dont be angry, there's lot of bullshitter around this forum bragging about their salary especially those with a 1-2 year experience but earning more than 5k basic . The fact is no company gonna pay fresh meat that much. Boston Consulting Group . ( There goes your NO company theory .) One of the very few companies that pay fresh meat (graduates) 5K and above. Was just interjecting the "NO COMPANY" will pay you that high theory.
Not really, I have a friend who's at the second round of the interview. He only has a degree but close to perfect grades, and exceptional extra-curricular activities.
Of course, MBA from a reputable university is an added advantage.

QUOTE(East Wind @ Jan 24 2011, 12:16 AM) Hi. If one had worked as a contractor/supervisor, technician and finally consultant/engineer, all average one year each with technician level salary (because not a degree holder) in various field, how much is one monthly pay after graduated (part time degree) and move to another industry? Minimum RM2.5k no problem or not? If you know how to talk, and your CGPA in your part time degree is 3.0, RM3K+ shouldn't be a problem as well, judging you have actual experience.
