When you are single or no kids, your salary is just $$$. The more the merrier.

When you have kids and old folks, they dont care how much food you can put on the table but will you eat together with them.

So earn as much as you can while young. Spare some time for the family when you have one.

Dear People,

I am a foreign national, I have been offered a position for Level2 Network Engineer by Emerio and wil be deputed in HP in KL, they are offering me RM 3400 + 300 allowance per month.
I am not aware of anything in Malaysia as I have never been there.. Please guide me as I am really confused on the below things:

I have 3.5 years experience in IT as a Network Engineer and I am Cisco certified(CCNA,CCNP,CCIP).
Please let me know what would be an average salary to lead a decent life in Malaysia?

Emerio is only offering me RM3400 + 300 Allowance per month .. wil this be sufficient for a single person? Please advice!

Also how much is the monthly expense on average? for Food and Accormodation etc for single person?
Wil I be able to save some money?  Also Emerio said that HP wil take care of my travel as they have Bus service for all HP employees free of cost.

Your help is greatly appreciated as this is a crucial move in my carrier ... Please Help me!

Thank You! all ...

Cheers!

welcome, just an example. An Indonesia maid with ~RM350 pay is able to send money home to support her family so ~RM4000 can do much more than that.

@Vey99 : See, it does not take long for malaysian company to import skills with lesser pay. Samething happen in SG. So what happen to a local asked for 5k for the same jobs? sweat.gif

Is 4.0 from XXX Uni equal = 4.0 from a strong Uni in the relavent field?

Do you think your UNI teach you everything you need for jobs?
(hence the false confident you gain from your CGPA)

How much can you differentiate yourself from another 4.0?

We have enough 4.0 who can only do exam questions but can't think on the jobs. Don't ack like one.

be humble with your given grade but be distictive with your strength.

4-flat? give me the 6 pack.

I dont think there is such things like strong Uni exist , it is depends on the person 's learning attitude.

Given you 4 flat CGPA from Oxford but attitude like shit, you think how long you can survive?
*
nope, if you don't know which Uni I can understand but your boss and the industry expert will know. Eg. Law and medic, if you are from certain uni, you have the advantage over higher CGPA from other uni.

that's what I am saying id you read my lines. CGPA is not the only factor.. but hey, if you work you will know that many boss attitude like shit, so how long you want to work?

yep i totally agree!

now mostly in the market, the employers is looking toward to experience workers rather than just cert coz some of the company dont have the time to train you. In other terms, they wan u to be independent asap in their environment!
*
depend on your industry and your level. entry level jobs any degree will do.

itis "strong uni in RELEVANT FIELD" not "strong uni". Not all the courses from a Uni is equally good. If your jobs don't need to look at that, then forget it. Just enjoy your jobs.

I see. then in your case is yes since stuff you learn in Uni maybe outdated by the time you look for jobs. You do more on the jobs training even you have a degree.

I have some friends those are an engineer in SG.
Frankly speaking, double E engineer in SG is not really doing that well.
6-7 years experience only fetch sgd5k+ in MNC.

but he is asking about Mgr role with Engineering background + 10 years SG working exp.
so >9k normal. How much more depend on the fields and your quality. Some dont do technical work but sales, so their salary also depend on their sales.

@azrink, tall to your malaysian boss, can he increase your pay if you wish. It has been 10 years, what will happen in next 5 years, the same? So what to lose if you chose to work in Sg for 5k but a new environment and new opportunity ahead?

Dollar to Dollar spending is part of the story. Say saving for example, you can save Rm1k in MY vs you save S$1k in SG, whick has higher spending power? The question will be are you coming to work or move your whole family here for real.

I am not in your industry so I can't comment on the experience part. S$5k is your starting pay for a new guy in a company. RM5k is the pay you get being a veteran in a company. Which one you think will increase further?

punk, respect is not earn base on your bank account. With all the money you have, you can do things than earn great respect from other people but they way you speak and behave make you more shabby than other people.

We are fine even we don't earn as much as you, you are excellent in financial but damn screw up in your character. You need to work hard another 2 years to learn how not to be a jerk (sorry, no free demo account).

Thanks for the support, unlike some insecure members here who flame me just because they aren't earning as much as I am. If I can do it, so can you! If ur interested to earn that much, hop over to http://www.babypips.com and get started on ur trading career. It's a very rewarding career I tell you. A word of warning though, you must be very commited and hardworking because it's not easy to become a successful trader. But it will pay off in ur lifetime.

I am not HR staff but I think it depend on your company policy.
eg. Say you miss 4 working days in APR out of 22 working days, so (18/22)*2000 = ~1.6k.
