7 years as engineer & 1 year experience prior joining = 8 years all together? How far are you from being a PE? I earned more than you after 2 years as engineer many years ago.

I know one bumi PE earns around 15k basic in a bumi company. Do not have a lot to do since his technical skill is very shocking.

If you do not get a big rise when you job hopping, it is unlikely that you will get a big rise yearly in the company.

Btw tell them that najib ask local boss to pay more to local staff

Notorious, you should be looking for construction/engineering company to fully utilise ur degree. You might have to move to bigger city eg KK which is currently booming...

oh ya... forgot to mention the loc.

it's somewhere in penang (not the island part...). so that should be just alright.. is it??

but working with c&s consultants are generally like that... salary is not very good...anyway i'm just asking as i am curious how much employers in kl are willing to pay for someone at my level... maybe significantly higher, or about the same...?
*
My sis got 4k with around the same years of experience in KL

Since talking to seniority decides the salary paid (level), how is the company judge on the seniority of profession? according to working years or how many projects/cases involved then?
Some jobs they can honored us with "great title of the job" (could be very senior level/ professional), but the paid still the same n the workload is higher! Wat for?!

Yes, receptionist could be labelled as "Director of First Impression"

Point number 1, you should really work then you will know the hard truth. If you are being paid RM1500 you expect your salary to baloon up RM3k within 2 years? Not that its unheard of but please do take note that you are asking for roughly 40% increase every year. U think thats gonna happen? LOL. What are the chances?

Najib say the NEP will double our salary by 2020... hmm.gif hmm.gif

g for graduates... if the starting salary for graduates (engineering) is 2k, then we should expect that the starting salary will be 4k by 2020.

However, the starting salary has been ard 1.5k-2k for nearly 30 years now and how is this going to be doubled when more and more and more and more graduates around...

I think tenangt's salary is fair considering he has less than 1 year exp?

i believe his scope of work will involve in a lot of travelling and might need to work on weekends.. still believe that engineers are undervalued and under appreciated in malaysia...

Fyi, the company is more towards service provider. I've also told them during the interview session that I'm in no position to demand about my salary since I don't have any experience n much knowledge in O&G. I expect they pay me for my Bac. Degree and that 2.5k pop out into my mind.

I guess, I can consider myself not underpaid bcoz mechanical degree is all I hav wit me rite now.

Thanx a lot for the feedback..really appreciate it!! icon_rolleyes.gif

P/S: The HR guy did asked " so, you will demand in the future?" ..I juz replied " If I feels that I'm worthy, why not?..and it is not demand but a re-negotiate process for my payment" and he juz laugh.

Sometime you cannot be too choozy in your first job. Just wait till you gain enough experiences and companies will be knocking on your door and you can demand better salary........
