Hi all, I'm 26 this year, been working in MNC for nearly 3 years and this year is the first time I get increment. My new pay is 2.6k. I have degree in IT and currently working in business planning and analysis sector.

I would like to know what is the market rate this sector?

Thanks.

Time for you to jump with your 3 years of related experience.
Congrats to u on your increment.
*
Well I'm not really happy with my increment.

1st year: no increment due to serving period do not meet criteria
2nd year: no increment due to bad economic

After all the hard work I'd gave, my boss also know about this but due to company direction she's not able to do much.

And now my role was changed, to something which I kinda interested due to better career advancement opportunity and new things to learn.
Question is should I stay and learn more and take low pay? Or move on to new job few months later after I've stabilized my new portfolio?

I'm targeting to earn more than RM3.5k by age of 28. Need some input here. Thanks.

get to the new role, put it in you resume then look for similar role in the market but higher salary. i believe the first few year of you career must
*
Yes, I'm learning as much as I could on my new role, and aim to get a huge pay raise on my next job.

QUOTE(vey99 @ Mar 24 2010, 10:43 AM)
move on. i doubt u can get rm900 increase from ur current comp in 2 yrs time.
*
Yeah, I doubt so too... the only reason I'm staying (for now) is because I like my job and better career advancement in my next job.

QUOTE(abc2005 @ Mar 24 2010, 11:47 PM)
Well how do you see your current company in a year or two? Do you think it will grow and expand? Or would it stay stagnant? With your experience, I think you can fetch at least RM3.5k to RM4k or even more if you are lucky if you jump.

But reality-wise it's best to start searching for greener pastures while the current one is drying up.  biggrin.gif

Its sad to say that I dont see my company will be able to improve in 1-2 years... they've been cutting cost and restructuring since 2 years ago... sad.gif

Its a tough choice for me now, since I'm debating between career (learn more things so I can take better job in future) and $$$.
My current plan is to stay for few months (max until end of this year), for me to learn as much as i could while doing my best to stabilize and streamline things that I just took over before leaving.

** if not due to org change and my role got changed to something that I like, I'd be leaving now... sad.gif bad timing again...

28 yr old all earn 5K liao. dun be so short sight aim for 3.5K.
*
Its sad when comparing salary among others around my age... I think the only way for me to get 5k salary by 28 is going to work in SG then take money back here.

2.5k - 4.5k should be within this range. If you end up in a chinaman company most probably it will be below 3k. System admins and easy to get a job you might wanna try hp.

Thanks smile.gif

2.5k is the minimum for 2-3 years experience?
that was quite low for me sad.gif

Guess it depends on our luck too and which company we work in... We need to keep trying until we can get job with our desired figure.

Probably 8k to 10k.

A team head of 7 people, all junior to mid management people

Thanks. I'm being offered to be a team lead for a newly formed team of 2-3 contract staffs.
How much should I ask for this position? I'm new to team management and my salary is less than RM3k.

Sorry I can't really say. But if I would to guess, I would say 4k to 5k. Depends on your firm.
*
Its ok. Probably I'll ask for 4k... but I doubt my company is willing to give so much increment over my current pay... hmm let see how my HR going to offer me first...

Anyway, pay aside, need advice should I take up this role as team lead (probably with low pay) or move on to other companies (with better pay)?

Thanks.

Normally, company will offer 20-30% increase of your current salary. Company will only offer more offer if you can justify the reason. Mind to tell Team Lead in what team/sector?
*
Team lead in South Asia Customer Data Management team. I think this position will open up new opportunity for me to advance as people manager. But I also thinking to move on to other company to gain new exposure as I've been spending 3 years in current company and still in the same position.

most likely HR will pay base on current salary ... but you can ask for 5k since is TL position ... 5k for MNC is nothing actually ...

QUOTE(kidmad @ Jun 21 2010, 03:41 PM)
bro just ask for it !!! tongue.gif you will be surprise, some employer though your asking for 4k they might give you 5k. i've get to know a few when i got interviewed and got the offer letter previously.  Was so surprise that there is indeed company which is willing to pay more than what you are expecting.
*
Thanks smile.gif
Just wait until I get their offer then I'll bargain with them. I have nothing to lose too since I'm looking for opportunities in other companies.

Very high lor for internal job transfer. Sometimes internal job transfer 5% increment pun tak lak. Btw are you being promoted or internal transfer?
*
Internal transfer to next job level, I think can be considered as promoted. Is this still considered high?
