F&B industry can earn a lot. Need to have lubang with all the wet market people. There is this noodle shop nearby my place that sell all kinds of kon low and soup (laksa, loh mee, kuey teow soup, mee hoon kueh and etc.). Their daily profit margin about RM2K - RM3K. People coming in and out, tahpao 6 - 10 packets at a time. Some customers even take away another after eating there. lol

His wife, a helper and 2 maids. 5 people, sometimes his 2 daughter are there to help out.

The boss drives a new Camry. I know he can afford a 5Series but low profile.

The reason why their food is so laku is beecause of the generous portion given. A big bowl of laksa (RM4) eat until you burp non stop. And if you're one of their regular customers, will get special portion also. rolleyes.gif I go there at least 3 times per week. drool.gif

May I know where is this shop??, I wanna go try. Thanks

OWh System Support Engineer eh. Haiyah just buy a 2nd hand myvi when you are there. or you can find any rooms near bayan lepas, but bare in mind bayan lepas the room rate is slightly higher coz it is in Penang Island. If you rent in Prai everyday pass toll then it would be dirt cheap, Prai also lotta food which is cheap. kekeke. Anyway working in KL you dont own a car?

Internal transfer to next job level, I think can be considered as promoted. Is this still considered high?

No not from Penang but previously always travel to Penang Branch to support my colleagues in Penang so quite familiar with the place. room rental is about the same in KL le. In your case being single and no one else to feed i think you better stay in KL since travelling to work now is so easy for you. tongue.gif

Job Title : Management Trainee
Job Description: 1 yr program, to be Head of Department upon completion of training
Years spent in company : /
Location : KL
Tenure : Full-time
Experience : fresh grad
Salary: RM 2.3k
Education level : Degree (2nd class)

Ya...i jus started for few days...but i'm getting some calls from some MNCs for the position tat i've applied previously..

some asking for me to attend tests/ 2nd interviews..

i'm in kinda dilemma, the current job is ok, moderate pay, n tones to learn..plus it's very near to whr i stay, save time & $$

but shud i try out others too..?? my frens kept saying tat work in MNC is better, i do agree tat at first i was kinda turn off by the current working enviroment..coz it's more like a typical factory office..not the kind tat we fresh grad always imagining for some 'glamour' o 'high class' company..

plus i do saw some lack of discipline thr, can see some young workers & aunties gossiping & joking around more than working (n they happen to be in my department! lol) But i took this offer coz i felt like to be able to start off with training as a Dept Head is not something a fresh grad like me can easily get (especially in big co like MNC)..well, but MNC do offer some more professional training & working enviro..

..i m still so fresh..hope u guys can give some opinion really..help pls...

Hired few management trainee means the company has to prepare for few departments for them to be HOD?

It is weird. There are staff in the dept but they purposely hire a fresh graduate to be HOD after 1 year but they do not consider more experienced staff or hire experienced people for it. 1 year to be HOD should be impossible except you own the company by yourself.

Be skeptical of the offer. Seems to be too nice to believe.

It is possible when the company is small or looks like a factory like what she had mentioned. You can be the HOD if the department only have 1-2 ppl. biggrin.gif

well i think i shud first explain how i got this offer initially..
i shud say i merely meet their requirements for the job..they were looking for mature experienced person to fit in this position (at least 28, more than 3 yrs exp)..so i guess it's not the usual MT for fresh grad. but i sent in my resume any way to give it a shot..surprisingly they called me for an interview n tat's how i got it..

Yes true, i thought of it b4, i felt tat thr's something wrong wif it..
one thing is i was afraid tat i couldn't handle it (if wad they offer is true), or i m being 'fooled' to enter the company and end up in the wrong place sumwhr..so i call to reject the offer..
but the HR told me tat to think abt it as it is a rare chance, she said tat the HR manager tat interviewed me was impressed by my performance n wan to give me a chance to try..if i cant take it.. then i can just go, no harm trying....ya, so tat's how i got in thr..

and ya, they do not offer a lot of trainee position, only a few for depts who currently don hav a HOD.

haha..u're right, my colleague told me tat the previous Dept Head also came in as a trainee like me (but of coz he was older n more experienced)
the dept ain't big, total only 10 including me..it's a new dept, only set up for abt 2 n a half yrs..so thr's alot of space for improvement..
i can see tat i'll be everything thr, planning, leading, operation, management, cust care...alot for me to learn...

anyway, i jus started for 2 days, i cant tell yet..now jus trying to learn how the dept operates..so far ok i'll say..not as bad as i thought..
but mean while thr's some calls coming in, interview for some positions n companies tat i've really wanted..

of coz, it's not 100% i'll get the other offer coz application for MNC is competitive, but, am i too greedy? or i've really rushed into things?
well, pls dun laugh at me. i know it's silly, but being so young n fresh, i know i could be naive n may make the wrong decision..tat's y i m here..
so really hope for some comments, i really appreciate your opinion..

I hate to say this but 90% of non-MNC management trainee position is nothing but mere cheap labor for the company blinded with deceiving future. If there is no black & white that you will be a management level after a year, take it as nothing but a pinch of salt.

It happen to MNCs too albeit chances are lower.

Hi guys, I just wanna ask what's the average annual bonus for graduates who just started to work in investment banking? I heard the average salary is about RM3-3.5k, but when it comes to bonus a lot of people are more secretive and the margin looks a lot bigger. I normally hear bonus is about 6 months. My brother's friend works in CF (corporate finance) in CIMB and got 12 month annual bonus, but she's already worked there for like 3 yrs la. Thanks for any responses.
