Hi, can anyone here tells me whether the Nissan Serena 2.0 AT(1998) is a powerless car?
I can hardly feel the power, even if I floor the pedal and rev the car, it is still slower than myvi's normal acceleration.
On highway, from Penang to Ipoh (PLUS), when going uphill a bit, my car's speed will drop from 110 to around 50, even if I stepped hard on the pedal.
Why is that? Is it my engine's problem? My FC also very high, with 40L petrol, I can only drive about 240km, which is about RM0.28/km.

How should I solve this problem? If anyone here knows how to solve this, please tell me, or if this is normal, tell me also, lol haha, thanks

1, gearbox problem which is quite common on old Serena. checked if your gears really shifts down when u floor then pedal or it takes some time to shift. if so, then the gearbox needs overhauling already.

2, any white smokes? if so, time to rebuild engine. if not, then i think you need to do top overhaul because i think there are too much carbon build up already on the valves and the exhaust port.

price wise? cheapest would be top overhaul, then gearbox rebuild then engine rebuild.

what is top overhaul?

Top overhaul means disassembling the crankcase which includes the removal of cylinders, pistons, piston rings and valve gear for replacement or service.

how much would I need in order to do that?

Price may vary depending on the situation.
FC might be even higher after overhauling, so beware.
But overhaul it's just a suggestion.
Do check the throttle openning, because a dirty throttle will effect the acceleration & FC of a vehicle.

bro.. top overhaul doesn't require u to disassemble the crank and all. just take out the head and rebuild it. if needed, replace the piston rings.

if full overhaul, then take out the engine and rebuild everything. this will definitely cost more but if done properly, your engine will be good as new.

top overhaul for SR20DE on serena usually cost around RM800 to RM1k, including new head gaskets, valve seals, acid-cleaned head and valve grinding.
