u're interested in prep style but you don't know what it is?

how can that be possible -.-

then again, there is google as ur fren
http://www.wikihow.com/Look-Preppy
.

Prep is someone who cares about their appearance enough to look good -- but not so much that they are superficial. They are conservative, clean cut, classy and classical.

I could be wrong, but for me, preppy style is like a youthful look. Go for plaids/ checks and layer it up with a jacket. smile.gif

This is what I'm talking about. (It's from the new Harvard clothing line).

this first thing that comes to my mind at the mention of "preppy" is shirts buttoned all the way up, tucked into your pants, often times a sweater/cardigan, some nice loafers/boat shoes, and a big tote bag.

then again, that's how i would dress if i were told to go "preppy" smile.gif

If I were to call preppy by another name, it would be 'Harvard look' or college look.

The Malaysian college look would be dark dress shirt, dark polyester pants (or once black but now grey cotton ones), dark polyester tie, and loafer-style shoes of indeterminate material. That's Malaysian prep. It's also a style widely copied by sales promoters.

Sorry but I may never bring myself to like that. Those black pants just doesn't work with big white sneakers like that. Not a matter of age or what. The suit with sneakers thing in particular, is often featured in GQ together with their attempt to ruin menswear. No doubt they're going to feature models in opera pumps wearing a t-shirt in the future.

Well, different strokes for different folks. I have learned to embrace the diversity in styles and their channel for self-expression. Dress depending on the occasion, I'd say: just as long as the stated dress codes for the events that you'll be attending aren't broken.

hmm...sneakers is one thing....what they wear is the office slacks paired with an old oversized t shirt with sport shoes...not sneakers....if they can afford to pay for such a course I don't understand why they can't afford better clothes...

^ Those jackets & cardigans has to go, replace shirts with polo T with american college style usually that has numbers, college badges or a single alphabet at the left chest. That should probably do the half trick. The other half depends on your overall image & hairstyle. Subtle plaid/checker design might help too.... I guess

you may choose to not wear those jackets but you can stick with the cardigans/sweaters.. anyway there are jackets like that which are less heavy, its about whether you dare to be different or not..

for me, this is more like boating style, and as RL calls the "yacht-club look", similar to nautica's look..

I don't think we should wear cardigans here. Maybe post more summer prep pics.

the preppy look uses patterns, in conjunction with bold colors.. the accessories with this style could be clothes themselves, such as a sweater. wrapped casually around the shoulders. the most important rules of preppy style - class, elegance, and neatness..

^^^^ Thats the classic example of preppy look.. Especially the collar shirt and the "scarf" thingy on the shoulder. I would not wear that though.. It screams NICE GUY. And girls would not want to hook up with you. LOL

I'd much prefer the geek chic style or retro.
