Hi everyone

My family have tons of clothes (pre-loved) which my mom wanted to throw away.
But I was thinking of donating the clothes to the needy ones (orphanage or poor people)
since most of the clothes is still in a good condition (and i'm too lazy to sell it online haha)
However I don't know where to find 'em (orphanage or needy ppl) and I hope someone can help me (preferable orphanage within kl -selangor area)
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Hi,

If you are in KL I suggest you drop your clothes at the Red Crescent Shop inside the Red Crescent HQ on Jalan Ampang. They take the clothes and resell them to raise funds for their activities. I've been doin it for some time now.

They also take everything else e.g. bags, shoes, books, electronic equipment (working ones) and other things as well. Should your items be too much for you to carry, they can arrange for a lorry for pickup.

I will suggest you to do some work before you just throw a few packets of clothes to any of the places.

Please separate the wearable or unwearable clothes, also separate and indicate there are those clothes suitable for adults or young children? Please ensure those are in clean condition, because they are not the maid to wash it off for you. At the same time, please check it out with the home tat you are going to send to. If you have a lot of young children clothes, you may send to orphanages, if mainly adult clothes, you may send to those HIV positive home, mental illness home or for the cancer centre.

I think it's easier for people to give you a guide by letting them know what sort of clothes that you have for donation. Because by that way, we can ensure you've sent it to the right place for the right people. Instead of leaving it at any of the home for personal convenient, which it might be extra work for the residents of the home.

Thank you!

PJ section 14, do you have transport? You may donate to the home at Taman Megah/SS3/Taman Paramount/Seapark.

I am sorry to say, no point to donate to the welfare department, if you do really need to know any charity home nearby your area, I can come up a list for you. I know my list is outdated a bit, I'm sorry that my tight schedule is really tie me down furthermore lately with some family problems but I will update the list soon and with some guides smile.gif

In Cheras, you can try the Xim Phou Moon rep (not sure the spelling) at Cheras Leisure Mall, I've asked the auntie there before if they accept books & clothes, and she said they have a drop off point at the parking level. Not sure if they're still accepting though.

I went to India twice and what I can tell that poor people over there may appreciate used clothes more than here in malaysia but the cost to send there might be a lot. I hope there's an association who can handle this
