I remember the argument i had with a colleague in a previous convo, about motivation of people. managerial skills rely a lot on the clapping on both hands. you can have a great motivating manager and at some point it could be a total deciding factor of how the team performs. but it could be vice versa as well. motivation comes from so many angles, stability, personal influence, blah blah blah....

the power of the mind comes from oneself, walking in the field knowing full well that you represent a totality of a club, its history and its passion, maybe we seem to have players lacking in that.

the manager or the staff team can only do so much but its also the influences of personal as well as the owners to play a part in this. ultimately its the player, the one that goes into the field that would know what they want.

remember Jerry Mcguire's question? playing for the cash or playing from the heart? smile.gif

Here's another question for you then? Who bought the players? smile.gif

No matter what you guys think, the FACT is MU is still better than Liverpool in winning trophies for the past 20 years. No one can deny it

This is true which only reinforces my pride of fellow Liverpool fans. That we've won so little and still are fans. Thanks for pointing that out.

It's also why we'll savour games like the UEFA Cup final win over Alaves (5-4) and Istanbul, one of the greatest comebacks in any sports final. Also, the stories we've read not only on the game, but elements around it.

bro, to solely blame Rafa for buying them is kinda unfair.

scouts and recommendations as well as media influences also plays a great deal in any hype over a player and what not.

we can't say we bought all the players wrongly. same like a product.. its a preference. How he seems to buy mainly spanish players is because its
his comfort zone and for that fact alone i can't fault him as its human nature to buy or make a decision based on a level of comfort,  at least he is a little more adventurous of late tho.

in short, he may have bought them ultimately he also bought them based on a long process of approvals by the owners and other factors. we can blame him all we want but i still think as much as a manager plays god, they aren't.

we can never be able to tell who can gel or not unless we try them on the pitch. its more to chance and trial and error. as much as i hate to admit it, its like that isn't it?
*
Of course it isn't totally his fault but to absolve him from all blame isn't fair either.

Trial and error? It's why you don't buy players after watching youtube videos, or why you offer trial spells before signing them. With us, it definitely does appear to be a case of trial & error but what we need to do is to marginalise the error portion of it. How? I don't know. Ask Wenger who seems to be able to get the best out of relative unknowns.

Like I said from the start, I'm kinda sick of hearing about how we don't have money to spend. I'm sick of fans using it as an excuse each and every season.

I just think Rafa's system is too rigid and so he isn't getting the best out of his players.
This is exactly the point I brought up 3 seasons ago when I posted my thoughts about Rafa. It's almost as though the players are string dummies, playing exactly as he wants them to. The thing with creative players like Benayoun or Babel is, that you have to allow them the freedom to execute out-of-the-box plays. He needs to trust players to use their instincts.

Well I'll be flying off to KK tomorrow in the wee hours of the morning so I'll be watching from home. I just get the feeling it's going to be a frustrating experience just like it was when we played Fiorentina.

I just don't see where the goals will come from on our end. The only person this season which has proven to be a matchwinner to me is Benayoun.

now a skeptic hey dukey? well benayoun does score goals for us...but must not forget that kuyt's our regular UCL scorer too...and so is stevie! hahaha

I've always been a little sceptical of the team, what more with the indifferent form that we're in. 2 games ago we were top scorers in the Premier League and now, we're languishing below the likes of Sunderland.

We've actually conceeded a fair number of goals resulting from low crosses into the box. The back four gets sucked in towards the near post, leaving the far post exposed. Where does the fault lie?

While I agree that ezikie's name calling might be a little harsh, I m surprised that some coward chose to hide behind their keyboard and reported the posts.

As far as I'm concern, this is our thread. We are rivals and what's so surprising about a little name calling in our own thread? It's not like we went over your thread and call you that.Apparently, some sissies just cant take it.If you cant take it like a man, cant stand some name calling, stop visiting our thread. No one is using a gun to force you to read our post
Precisely. You don't see us go crying to the mods like little girls whenever one of our rivals take ths piss outta our name. Man up!
