My wife bought 1st generation iphone (2g) from UK . She was using it with O2 provider.
Back in malaysia, after jailbreak with pwnagetools and she used with celcom xpack prepaid sim. there were ridiculous charges, which upon inquiry was pinned down on WAP usage when she did not logged on to any internet browser whilst not on wifi. One day would go by with RM5 gone without even making any phonecalls or sms. After a while, she found out that accessing basic things like phone book was also charged rm0.70

I read a few articles. one said, if I turn off 3g it will automatically run edge, and that's why it would still be charged even after turning it off.

Anyone else have same experience?

no, of course not over the net. things that have nothing to do with WAP at all. even if i wanna log on internet, i wud login via wifi, still got nothing to do with network provider, and wen i went to celcom customer service, they pinned them all down to WAP a.k.a. web browsing and said oh iphone always got this problem, wifi cannot shut can automatically log on to internet, one even said its touch phone rite.. who knows in handbag the button accidentally got pressed on internet, which got some yelling at. like cannot auto keypad lock.
