the iphone uses the normal sim cards.

it IS still a phone.

However, make sure you purchase an unlocked iphone so it'll accept ANY simcard.

You should have asked this in the iphoneclub thread.

3.1 you can't JB, hence you can't install SB Settings, hence the sifus in the iphone club thread will be able to help you.

Oh my apologies then. I'm still running iphone 3G 8GB on 3.0, and as far as I know, there's no officially accepted JB for 3.1 on Windows (otherwise page 1 of the relevant thread would include that, no?).

walked into TTDI Maxis Center, 20 mins later got my 32gb3GS!

JBed with Blackrain, and now having fun with it.

Gonna give the 8GB 3G (Hacktivated UK set) to my wife. Quick question - it was on U Mobile before. If she pyts in the Maxis sim card, can I just change the MMS settings on the Cellular Network Tab to enable MMs etc?

how to change current location?the phone keep setting the wrong location for me

and do i still need maxis 4.0 as carrier to use mms?(as based on the guide).i've checked and im on 5.0

AFAIK you need to have 3G enabled for the iphone to use the location settings.

You can use maxis5.0 to send MMS.

Some ppls prefer the original iphone without JB coz of the worries of the wifi dropping issue, batt issue etc, a non-JB iPhone is still functioning well as it was supposed to be smile.gif

just sayin, my 3GS (maxis official) behaves better with JB. I can actually control HOW I want to use my data allocation. This way, I won't be helpless if my phone is leeching data without me knowing and Maxis will only say "it's an iPhone, get used to it."

I WON'T get used to it because on my previous i3G, with U Mobile prepaid, the cellular data NEVER moved unless I meant it to. and yes, that meant JB-ing, installing SBsettings, disabling Fetch for email and also watching what apps I install and what they do (ads, etc).

Battery life is still a day and a half - which is normal with regular use.

For the record, JB-ing isn't a criminal activity. It's like installing software on your windows to manage your processes/performance and customise your rig.

Moderator : I have already search through this thread and I cant find the paragraph u PASTED in my post. I have also read through the past 10 pages out of 96 pages to search for my answer. Does it hurt to post my problem here again ? Why are you being so rude ? zzz

I'll repeat this:

1) Your iPhone 3GS is from maxis
2) Maxis iPhone 3Gs uses a newer version of the bootrom
3) whenever you install something that requires a reboot/turn off your iphone you'll need to run blackra1n again

there you go.

you can try installing the IPCC file for your provider.

In my case (Maxis iPhone 3GS, Maxis 5.0) I could see the cellular data network button immediately.

Hi All,

is there anyway to set my SMS and Email settings so that whenever i write a new SMS/Email or delete a SMS/Email, it will automatically go back to the message list/inbox???

coz like emails now, if i delete an email it will automatically go to the next mail.

as for SMS, whenever i send or delete a message, it will stay with the current users SMS list. abit irritating that i have to press back(messages) each time.
*
haha i know what you mean. I've resorted to going back to the main message list, tapping edit and then deleting the emails i don't want all in one go.

as for SMS i think we're stuck...

QUOTE(tineagle @ Feb 17 2010, 10:14 PM)
hey, I am thinking of getting myself an iPhone 3gs.  the only dilemma i'm facing that what if apple releases their next gen iPhone(4g?) for the same price in a few months compared to the current iPhone 3gs pricing?

yes, there's been rumors of them releasing the next iPhone in summer 2010, but what do you guys think of the pricing in Malaysia.  also to consider, availability, will we need to wait a couple of months for it to be available here?

all things considered, is it worth the wait if my budget is the current pricing of 3gs?(and how much cheaper 3gs will be when 4g is out..)

ugh.. so hard to make a decision, help! lol

(my main concern is pricing. i'm pretty certain on getting a 3GS even if the 4g comes out, but will it be worth the wait..)
*
This is a difficult question to answer. The melei saying goes - tepuk dada tanya selera.

Apple WILL release a newer phone sometime.
So will Nokia, SE, Samsung etc. If you wanna wait for the latest and greatest you'll end up owning nothing.

Owning a 3GS I'm happy. Maybe I'll even change to the 4G in 2 years or so - but that's just me. Will the 3GS price drop? Maybe. How much? I'm guessing not by much - because right now Apple is bound to Maxis, and they will ensure they milk every single sen out of you and me.

So yeah, if you wanna have an awesome phone right now, get a 3GS. If you want it cheaper, call back in maybe 18 months or so.
