I just posted it - http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/868281/+11

It worked for me before I upgraded my firmware, anyone knows if it still works with latest upgrade?
*
I tried downloading the file and tethering doesn't seem to work.
I am on official unlock and using Celcom line.
FW 3.1 - both USB and BT tethering doesn't seem to work.
In fact I have problem connecting my Mac to the iPhone 3GS. Although both iPhone and Mac can be paired.

"No tethering on officially unlocked iPhone"

Does it mean, Apple only encourage tethering on Official Networks (like Maxis) only..?

Actually I am suspecting it has something to do with my router because I don't have this problem when connecting to other WIFI. However, I don't use them long enough to see this a potential problem.
Technically Apple only encourage tethering with Maxis only because it is their official service provider in Malaysia. It is only exclusive to Maxis. I am not so sure but I think we can patch this up with ipcc file uploading. If you plan to use other service provider.

Many iphone owners around the world are complaining after the 3.1 upgrade, they no longer able to do tethering...

Is there any App store app that can help to do tethering?

Do you think downgrading back to 3.0.1 will solve the problem?

Erm. I heard that the os3.1 for iPhone causes the iPhone to become slower and sometimes auto shutdown the phone suddenly! Is it true? I'm using an officially unlocked 3gs. Do u guys recomend me to upgrade or stay with 3.01os
*
I don't feel the difference after upgrading the 3.1.
No issue except I can't do tethering...

@Edoras,
I'm on an officially unlocked set and am using Maxis as my provider.  Am sending this post via Internet Tethering via USB.  It looks like it's working on my end.  It also works on BT smile.gif
*
Yes - it actually supports Maxis bcoz of the official provider.
But I am running on Celcom... Unfortunately, they have remove for non-official telcos.

@Edoras,
Unfortunately I don't have any non Maxis SIM cards at home to test it on.  Looks like U need to get someone else to confirm Internet Tethering availability on non Maxis networks.

It seems I cannot even see the "Internet Tethering" tab ... Just like the photo below...

ok - I will create another topic for this issue. See here -- http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1183532

Is this possible after you have upgraded to 3.1?
Anyone can verify?

Anyone able to resolve this problem..?

"
Tap Settings > General > Network> Internet Tethering to confirm that your carrier supports Internet tethering. If you don't see this option, and your carrier supports Internet tethering, connect iPhone to iTunes to install a carrier settings update in iTunes. If you don't see a carrier settings update, your carrier may not support Internet tethering. Contact your carrier for additional information."

Did you Jailbreak to get this feature or its a standard feature already available for Celcom?

I bought from Maxis. OTB firmware was 3.0.1. Straight JB without doing anything eg; those ipcc files.
I just don't know how this feature is available for Celcom tongue.gif

By the way, regarding my reception call drop, can I just update my FW to 3.1 from iTunes and upgrade the baseband as well? Might think that the new baseband can handle Celcom broadcast? Thanks. I don't need the tethering at the moment.

Dev team said..

"The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 - PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box. If your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 preinstalled and is not Pwned then there is no tested jailbreak solution at the moment."

I think you are safe at the moment because you have Jailbreak at 3.0.1.

Sorry if I didn't manage to read the whole 81 pages..
I have a problem whereby my iPhone is now stuck at the Apple Logo.
How do we reboot it back. I have numerous times press both the "Home" and "Power" button but still unable to reboot safely.
I have also tried connecting to the iTunes and reboot but to no avail.

What's the best and workable solution?
I have JB the phone.
