Hi, I'm guessing this has been covered before, but I can't seem to find it in the thread. Would appreciate it if anybody could point me in the right direction.

iPhone Generation : 3GS
Unlocked? (or Part Number): Artifically unlocked (Part Number MC145C)
Current Firmware : 3.1.2
Current network: Maxis
iTunes Version : 9.0
PC/MAC : Mac
Jailbreaking software : blackra1n
Problem Encountered : Cannot receive or send MMS after a friend tried sending an MMS to my phone.
Steps Taken So Far :
1) Googled for enabling MMS. Support says to enable MMS, go to Settings > About > Network > Cellular Data Network
2) Realized that my phone doesn't have the Cellular Data Network tab
3) Googled on how to enable back said tab. Found this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/868281/+10

Other Information/Remarks :
What I wanted to know is since my phone is not a phone bought from Maxis itself, would restoring to factory settings solve the problem (enabling back the Cellular Data Network tab)? My sister had a Maxis unit (3GS, running on 3.1.2 and JB by blackra1n too), and while the carrier is Maxis 5.0 (same as mine), her unit has the Cellular Data Network tab. Which made me a little curious why is it so, when the thread (link above) said that only Maxis 4.0 carriers are enabled for it. And is this (no Cellular Data Network tab) only applicable to artificially unlocked phones?

Also, from that thread, I got a link for enabling the tab (http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/752226), but after reading through the thread, it seems like it's more on having a customized logo carrier than to enable MMS. Any other explanations or linking to other threads will be much appreciated

you can try installing the IPCC file for your provider.

In my case (Maxis iPhone 3GS, Maxis 5.0) I could see the cellular data network button immediately.

hi there....

mms from iphone can be a pain sometimes.... as all being said, i would like to suggest some of the solution to you

1. when sending mms, try not to close your msg apps, just let it be until it sent. if it failed to send, try a couple of times. i usually have to do 3-4 times just to send a MMS.
2. sometimes the network problem... just your bad luck
3. if all fails, and you're had enough, just make a call to maxis centre and poin this problem to them. they can auto configure your mms settings and it should be ok. or u can try doing it online at maxis website.

i hope this help. most of the problem of sending and receiving occurs because of the network problem... i know because i also have the same problem...

Okay, thanks...I will try that when I get home. I went looking at Apple's Support pages for iPhone, and there was no support page for the Cellular Data Network tab. So, maybe this tab is only applicable for Maxis units? hmm.gif

Thanks for the info! I tried step 1 many times. Didn't work.

Don't know if it's the network problem, because my signals are good where I am. But I will try with the maxis website. I don't know if I should give a call to the maxis center, as my iPhone is not a Maxis unit...not sure if they will take any action on it. Worst case scenario, forgo MMS...tongue.gif Not that I use it a lot, but it sometimes is a good feature for last min. photo sending. Thanks again!

Just a question...did you use the iPhone_3.1_Maxis_my.ipcc file or the Original_iPhone_3.1_Maxis_my.ipcc file? I'm a little confused as to which one to use. What's the difference between the two?

Thanks. I will try with the IPCC file first, and if it's not workable, I'll call Maxis and see. Appreciate it smile.gif I tried the Maxis website...all I got was "Sorry, Phone Model is not Configurable. It appears that there’s no automatic configuration or manual configuration guide for your Apple iPhone 3GS." rolleyes.gif

sorry guys i posted up in the wrong thread yesterday. i was wondering does anybody suffered from the same rattling iphone 3GS problem. i googled it up and it seems its a common problem for 32GB white users. They say the rattling sound actually comes from the Autofocus mechanism/ or accelerometer.

also wanna ask u guys wat is the best iphone video converter (free for mac?) thanks.

Problem Encountered : Not really a problem. While I know that the iPhone uses some storage from the 32GB storage but using 12GB++ is just too much. My other iPhones uses about 700-800MB, which I can still tolerate but 12GB?
Steps Taken So Far : Googled for answers and some people said it "healed" itself. Mine still doesn't after a few weeks.
Screenshot of Problem(if applicable) : See below
