Finally got my 300 The Complete Experience.
For the first time, I am contemplating buying a PS3 remote to watch a bluray disc. The multiple paths when viewing the feature makes the remote a necessary tool, as changing paths needs you to select different "color buttons". Was too greedy and kept changing the paths everytime they "lights up", and too much info within them. Will need to watch the movie a few times to get all the info. 3 times using the different paths as above, 1 time via the PiP bluescreen commentary, and a last time via the audio commentary. If you add the need to watch the movie on its own, you will need to sit thru the movie 6 times in total..... Worth the admission price if you are a huge fan or just a fan of movie making.... but be warned that there are way too much info for a casual viewer.... Sheet.... donno how to post pics here.... the BD is in book hard cover, with Leonidas's Helmet slightly lifted and highlighted to make it seem very 3D.... very cool... |

QUOTE(arremie @ Sep 29 2009, 05:54 PM) I don have the regular version leh..... i read some reviewers saying the transfer was the exact same one?? U pinjam me yr regular version to compare lo.... Anyway, due to the director's "crush' technique (where the shadow blacks are "crushed" to make them totally black - like inking a comic), the PQ will look darker and "noisier" than other pristine HD images from other movies. My eyes still cant get used to seeing noise on the images.... |

QUOTE(fadthil @ Oct 1 2009, 12:18 PM) This is not related: Does anyone remove the top white sticker on most US release BDs after opening the wrapper the first time? I don't... I leave it on I totally remove them and throw them away.....Oh... 300 TCE (which is named as 300 UCE by the PS3.... strange) has the white sticker outside of the plastic wrap, so you will tear it off with the sticker. Added on October 1, 2009, 6:28 pm QUOTE(fragglerock @ Oct 1 2009, 05:28 PM) check out the screenshots for ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA. can't get any more shittier than this. i managed to download the 720p and image quality is UNBELIEVABLY bad. Dude, the movie is of acceptable quality, definitely better than DVD and its not DVD upscale. Its a 10++ yr old HK movie that uses very bad film stock back then.anyone getting MONSOON WEDDING, WINGS OF DESIRE? If this is bad for u, then dont get Jacky Chan's Police Story... u wont believe the amount of noise all over the images, this one really looked like it was upscaled from DVD. QUOTE(robertngo @ Oct 14 2009, 11:00 AM) that film have the greatest cast ever for a porno, three oscar winner Not true. The director filmed it as it was with some scenes but not too hardcore. It was Penthouse owner Bob Gucci-something that added the hardcore porno scenes that mainly consisted of his Penthouse mag models. i watch it before, dont feel it is that bad, just the directory went overboard with some of the more "extreme scene". I own two version on DVD, the 12th anniversary version (uncut and unedited full version with the Bob added hardcore scenes) and the Imperial Edition DVD (sanitized with the Bob scenes removed). However, the porno scenes in "making-of" in the extra special features DVD had more explicit scenes than the movie version... go figure... Sorry OT.... back to BD... Added on October 15, 2009, 2:41 am QUOTE(low98944 @ Oct 14 2009, 02:07 PM) Just same like my case, their openned and watch it and re-seal back and send to you. I am "fortunate" in this case, cause 1 disc missing and Amazon already sent a new replacement copy for me. Just curious, did ketam confiscated yr second disc due to graphic content thats banned in MY??Coz if they did, and if the same guys check yr second parcel again, wont the second disc also be "missing" from the box again?? They did open yr box and check (probably even play the disc) the content.... I hope thats not the case... This post has been edited by Poadster: Oct 15 2009, 02:41 AM |

QUOTE(moomoos @ Oct 23 2009, 10:33 AM) if the quality of the disc they use is "ichiban" it shouldnt stress on the BD laser pick-up... Dude, it seems the AQ/PQ is better than, that of Original DVD but.... anyway, not encouraged pirated things in this thread rite Added on October 23, 2009, 11:20 amwell to be exact....( well not exactly, exact.... depends on how "fussy" oneself, is 85% PQ and 75% AQ of Original BD but still stick to say ... its still better than ori DVD For Uncle Ho BDR25GB movies, PQ is more than 85% (for ori BD50 movies) and 100% (for ori BD25 movies). However, SQ is less than 50% as there are no HD audio, only DTS or DD. For Uncle Ho BD50 (yes, its out there in the streets already since one month ago), the PQ and AQ is 100% exactly the same, along with features and menus... There are some concern that some dubious seller will exploit this Uncle Ho BD50s and push them off as 2nd hand used ORI BD... This post has been edited by Poadster: Oct 26 2009, 12:53 AM |

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Oct 30 2009, 10:58 AM) Have you seen it? Many who've seen it now admit that they are glad that the movie was made. Many reviewers other than that website gave heartfelt reviews and recommend it. Ebert gave it 4 out of 4 stars. If you are a fan of MJ, or of his music, This Is It should not be missed.Cashing in? Of course it is, that's inevitable. But the movie is sincere and a great tribute to MJ. I'm gonna watch it in cinema if I have the chance, and will definitely buy the BD. Admittedly that its not a full concert, some scenes are in Youtube quality, but to see a great artiste working his magic on stage, his demands on his musicians, his directions on HIS music and dancers, is priceless. You can never get this kinda insight even if you pay for front row tix. Sure, its a cash in, call it what you want.... but u wont get to see this concert for the price of a cinema movie tix AND bluray disc.... I am not a fanboy, just felt that the movie is a great end tribute to the legend himself.... let the negatives arnd him die with him, and for his positives to linger as great musician... Peace... |

QUOTE(fadthil @ Nov 2 2009, 10:58 AM) Showing at Hall 10? hmmm... i'm quite surprised why GSC choose halls other than hall 2 or 3 (at 1Utama) which have a better THX-equipped sets... I suppose that with a smaller screen, there PQ will be better? Also there is the cost of buying a whole new screen for the digital movie. I have seen many digital movies (3D and 2D) and will continue to as the PQ is much better on these screen. However, the AQ is lousier than the THX halls...Maybe THX don't matter in documentary like this.... On the AQ in THX screen for This Is It, i disagree. The AQ is superb as u literally feel each bass note and the highest squeal of the lady (cant remember her name, too many letters) guitarist on Black and White and Beat It.... I would recommend catching in in THX halls.... the PQ should be close to the digital version (its in 1:78:1 format, but the AQ is superb... Will get the BD too... Added on November 3, 2009, 2:05 am QUOTE(aiman04 @ Nov 2 2009, 05:25 PM) Huh? The bass overdone? It's just perfectly balanced on my system. Did you guys set the LFE level a few dBs hot? Even the dialogue is fine. Obviously some re-calibration is needed. ROTF is flawless to me, especially the regular Amazon version. The Walmart Big Screen version, yes, it is a few dBs too low, but no certain frequency overpowering others, just need to crank the volume up a few dB. I agree... the IMAX version is the definitive version to get, esp if u like to see giant robots duking it out in the jungle, with bits and pieces flying AND a couple more scenes to make the fights look more choreographed....The PQ on the IMAX scenes are amazing. Opening up the ratio really gives the scope more room to breath. In scenes like this where the characters are really tall, narrower ratio certainly has it's advantage. With the IMAX 70mm resolution, ILM rendered the robots at 4k resolution (4 times bigger than 1080p) and the details really shows. IMAX is the definitive version, if you actually want the movie in the first place, or if you're looking for a good demo disc for your system. Was disappointed that there were only 2 locales with IMAX portions as i hope to see BB in IMAX too, but the jungle fight scene is really the one to show off yr Full HD + 1080p BD setup.... beats those IMAX scenes from TDK.
