Marvel Blu-ray 3-Pack (Fantastic Four / Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer / Daredevil) I think the cheapest I ever saw. It comes down to only RM47 per title. Great for your collection if you still don't have these titles.

I noticed one thing. All of my orders from UK which haven't arrive were shipped via Deutsche Post DHL. My previous orders all shipped via Royal Mail. I wonder....

Watchmen Director's Cut (BD, 2009)
This is one of my ALL time favourite Graphic Novel. When I first read this (1991) I was like OMG, superheroes were dropping like flies. It was NEVER done. And the theme is so... adult (rape, murder, MASSACRE!!) I mean, who does that in a comic book!! (Alan Moore does) When I first caught wiff of this movie, I was both ecstatic and afraid. Ecstatic because Zack Snyder is directing it (I'm mean this guy brought Frank Miller's 300 alive, which both made me giddy with pleasure and horror [made killing so "beautiful"]) and afraid because of my love for the original material. I watched in the cinema (Pavillion, THX cinema, the first day it was shown) and when the Comedian was thrown out of his apartment window, I was like, WOW, it is just like the comic book! Every single thing that was memorable about the comic book was on screen. I was puzzle by why Dr Manhattan's private bit was blurred and when I watched in again on BD, it DAWNED on me it was because of the cencorship board!! And when I watched the last frame of the movie, still GIDDY from the experience, I heard something that cause me alarm!!?! A patron of the cinema behind me said, "Tak tahu apa benda dia buat!!"! It hit me, not many people in Malaysia would understand the full extend of the movie. It is NOT their faulty that they don't know much about American History in the 1960 - 1980s. Most of them were either a baby or were not even born yet... A cold chill swept through me... will this masterpiece bomb at the box office.... And indeed it did not do as well as it's director and producers had hoped for especially with all it's legal problems it had faced! The PQ and AQ of the movie is FANTASTIC! All the painful detail Zack Snyder took to recreate the comic world is very apparent (rigth down to Mr Manhattan's pee pee I don't really know how to recommend this movie, because of it's weight! (i.e. the above mention history knowledge) It is a masterpiece nevertheless! My two sens worth. |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Oct 6 2009, 06:00 PM) Watchmen Director's Cut (BD, 2009) One of the reason the comic was so good was the narrative style on how bit and pieces of info on each of the characters was developed in each of the comic. The movie in the cinema had failed to capture the subtlelities of each character. Also like I said in my previous post on it, many ppl was expecting a superhero movie(Batman, Spiderman, Ironman, etc.) so they was expecting superpowers or explosions. This is one of my ALL time favourite Graphic Novel. When I first read this (1991) I was like OMG, superheroes were dropping like flies. It was NEVER done. I think in the cinema release failed to capture the depth of the comicbook characters, unless of course you read the comic. This is probably due to the length of the movie. I know many ppl who didnt understand the movie mainly because they have never heard of the comic nor like you said have some history knowledge. I am holding out of the Ultimate Watchmen, hopefully he would have filled in some of the sumarized parts. Also for all the extras It is a great movie which was very faithful to the original comic (just like 300). |
