QUOTE(tunemystylez @ Oct 29 2009, 10:09 PM) Anyone can help me to ID this scorpion? Liocheles australasiae. I've met a few of them with this particular colourform in the wild before. I'm guessing it's locality based variation. Happy keeping.http://www.flickr.com/photos/44126191@N02/4054988349/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/44126191@N02/...in/photostream/ Is it Heterometrus Spinifer?or... |

btw ..speaking of Hottentotta hottentotta,
i think there are 2 types of it . Hottentotta hottentotta (nigrocarinatus) and Hottentotta hottentotta (caboverdensis) both are parthenogenesis , maybe we did mixed up these two different sub sp under the same family in terms of their natural setup....???? or keeping of them ??? could this be the reasons why we have so many hot hot failed in our hands ????? anyone to advise ??? |

What we have in the local hobby is Hottentotta caboverdensis, Lester. It's pretty easy to differentiate between the two subspecies.

ok picture time.just to cool of the most interesting discussion i have seen in scorp thread.
my newly accuired scorp.(my friend gave it to me). i cant say it is longi or spinifer. here is why: this is a side by side comparisson of the padipalps. again they look very similiar. this is a wc. my friend saw it walking across the road while driving and caught it and gave it to me. so nay takers on the id. longimanus i would have to saw my forst choice since they are normally found around my area. spinifers i cannot say because is there any records of h.spinifer in sarawak natively. on to my other scorpion thank you to Ryo. the c.gerthschi. very nice and very small. male. long long tail. female. fat, fat(gravid maybe) how small are they?? both can fit in a single egg crate cell with room to spare. that is how small they are. ok. happy reading and have a nice day.
