Pet shop owner using, u mean bark chips?
One GOLDEN RULE that u must forever remember in keeping exotic
NEVER EVER TRUST PETSHOP EMPLOYEE'S ADVICE

If it's not bark chips i guess it is ok so long it can hold moisture, support burrow and contain no chemical
Anw we only change substrate when we see mites present in the enclosure, but i never change my scorp substrate

Most doesnt really know much about exotic, they sell so many pets, its pretty unlikely to have them to research on every pet they selling

Anw, yea u got that right, that's how i usually use my substrate

Not a bro? Dun lie, there are no female in the internet!
What i mean is, there are no male liocheles exist, at least none are found yet
Liocheles australasiae are parthenogenic, they give birth without mating and all of the offspring will be female smile.gif
Read the link i posted yet?

My friend, rafiq. you think i have no sense of my own "backyard'? haha

But I have a confession to make, 6 months into scorpion care and i still have never seen a scorpion molt. Is it sad? i notice they just hide in their burrows, do their thing and drag it remaining exoskeleton out.

sad.gif
*
Sad scorpion keeper sad.gif
But i think its good also, sometimes when i saw my scorp molting i will be very paranoid

y ppl like such a dangerous as their pet so much har ?
*
They aren't dangerous if being kept in secure container and with extra caution smile.gif
For me i like them cause of their low maintenance, only eat once a week
Also they are pretty interesting creature to study and observe

QUOTE(dizzychef @ May 14 2010, 03:55 PM)
Cause is a creature worth to be research and learn by us. It doesn't apply to the conventional(pet). We do not hug or play nor talk to them(maybe some do the talkng here but i don't). We kinda observe them(some girl tell me they are cute). If you understand them, they aren't dangerous as you assume.

Again. Life is just huge with many things you haven't experience, life doesn't surround on your norm life. While our norm life doesn't surround to your particular question. Can you understand?

Feel free to ask more that we can provide to you.

mad.gif Ants do attack scorpions. I just found out the hard way. Left only the tail of my androctonus bicolor scorplings. Luckily the other scorplings of other species are ok, maybe because they are bigger perhaps. vmad.gif
All suspects caught are sentenced to death by boiling water already.

Actually i doubt the double side and vaseline trick will work...
I tried before with vaseline and put a ant in front of it, i see them walk through it without problem
Same goes to double side tape and water, they juz walk/swim to the tank...
They are so light especially those small red ants

I got a little questions to ask here. Are female scorpions sure to be gravid and give birth eventually after mating?is it like tarantulas when the female sheds after mating, they leave the sperm thing with the old exoskeleton ?
*
I never heard of a comfirm case where mating fail when spermatophore are visible but rafiq and alex's deathstalker did mated last year around may or something, they wait till dec still not yet pop so they tried to remate them but until now still, din pop yet
So it's plausible where a mating will fail eventhough spermatophore present

Different individual different metabolism, affected by a lot of factor like temperature, humidity and probably a lot more
Nothing to worry, really

For me, gravid or not, they will all feed like normal, unless when they are near birth, my balsasensis tend to reject food a few weeks prior to birth

Next time be more careful tongue.gif
Also i dunno if this will help but try putting a wet towel everywhere on floor
If ur room is dry and it is searching for water source, it should go and stay under the towel
This work for centipede, not sure bout scorp thou
