Congrate on ur new brood, my last hot.hottentotta just molted to adulthood laugh.gif
Anw i dun think it is a pre mature birth, otherwise u will have all of them unfertilized like what my friend experienced with his emperor
It's pretty normal to have a few unfertilized egg in a brood ime, because those that i observed the birth giving process, all of them have unfertilized eggs....
But dun quote me cause i have no proof to backup my claim smile.gif

Anw my way of keeping mine is a bit different from urs, i keep mine in plain coco fiber substrate in the same container as urs
I keep those substrate dry and only mist a lil bit at the wall for once a week or longer

Ryo around 20 smthg left.
Rideon, yeah I've separated them into smaller container.

I wonder is lychas scutilus really a rare scorpion?
*
They used to be common in the hobby few years back but after those senior quit, it seems that none was left in the local hobbyist sad.gif
I only know we can find them in penang, never heard of any place else...
So far, only me, lester, h3ro and u have them atm so i would consider them "quite rare" but not as rare as chaerilus sp which is also local biggrin.gif

What kind of research can u do with limited equipment?
To milk a scorp venom, u ll need a electric shock device to inject very regular currents to shock the scorpion into ejecting the venom

Quite common in pet shop, they are not aware that they wont live long with their tail clipped....
They can sell it easily by telling customer they wont sting because it stinger have been removed
What to do, most newbie wanted to start with adult specimen and we dont have any captive breed adult afs aside those from Alex and maybe a few other hobbyist but none are for sale

Heterometrus spinifer= Dark green color, smooth chela
Heterometrus swammerdami= Dark brown color, chela granulated like emperor
Heerometrus madrapatensis= Dark green/blue color, yellow leg, granulated chela

But those are just physical different, to identify them accurately u will need to look for their granulation pattern on their carapace
Each sp have different pattern

Added on May 2, 2010, 11:26 pmIf u are into reading, this is a great article about heterometrus for ya

i had few scorpion n now looking for Leiurus quinquestriatus scorpling, any1 know where to find 1?
*
U can find it in ur pant, in between ur magic balls, when u have enuff experience with scorp tongue.gif

QUOTE(rafiqos @ May 9 2010, 10:14 AM)
Nebo hierichonticus might not be the best scorpions for first time desert species keepers Ryo. It's the only scorpion from the family Diplocentridae that is medically important.

The positively charged sodium ions in the Beta toxins in this particular species is capable of breaking through the BBB (Blood-brain barrier). The ions actively discharge onto the barrier (which is a form of membrane that barricades the brain from being flooded with blood). The venom then strike the neurotransmitters in the brain, causing them to fire rapidly with no brakepads. Among the first signs of the venom taking over is bulbar impairment, where the victim will begin to drool uncontrollably because of the loss of control over swallowing. The extent of damage a Nebo hierichonticus tag can cause is still being studied.

I'd go for a Hottentotta caboverdensis instead. They are both cute and feisty at the same time. lust.gif
*
I din research on nebo before and are not aware of their venom potency
Seriously this surprise me, all this while i underestimate a nebo blink.gif
This is truly a scorp that can make u drool on it non stop drool.gif
Sorry for the wrong recommendation, asmalltowngirl and thanks for the valuable info rafiqos nod.gif

Now now guys, be nice, we might give an impression that we are closed minded, which i know most are interested of exchanging information, and friendly when known.

Rafiq makes thing real complicated, though i like it if i understand it. Do you have papers or link for us to read on Nebo hierichonticus?
*
lol seriously la what u expect if he din even tell us his experience with scorp first
We cant find a LQuinquestriatus sling in malaysia anw laugh.gif
