Hello guys... I am using a wireless optical mouse (A4tech G7 630) and it requires one AA battery to function. However the battery I'm using right now (normal sony AA battery, 4 for RM4.50) only lasted for about 2 weeks +
I use my mouse around 4 hours everyday. Whenever I'm watching movie in my laptop i off the mouse.
Is there any good and long lasting NON rechargeable AA batteries which can last longer... Maybe 2~3 months? Price is not a matter but of course I would hope it to be cheap (not more than rm10 for 4 batteries?)
Please recommend me some brands and models =)
Mod, if this is posted in a wrong section/forum please enlighten me or move this thread.
Thanks in advance guys =)

I doubt 2AA battery will last 1 year for any mouse (not only Logitech). If you can get something like 6 mths is consider very good already. TS , I'm using G7630 as well and 1 energizer alkaline can last between 1.5-2mths. I use the mouse more than 8hrs a day and only turn off at night.

But still that is quite respectable. i'm using 2 AA duracell battery. I can approx batt life to about 8 months ++

I'm using Logitech Cordless Desktop EX 110, put 2x energizer in the mouse and normally last 2-3 months. Really hope the mouse comes with a on/off swtich because even computer is off the mouse is still running, thus draining power unneccessarily...

I reallly don't know how truthful those who say their battery last more than 2 months. You can use the most high tech battery and still for something like a mouse, it drains energy like crazy even in power saver mode. I have used A4 Tech, Microsoft, even Logitech wireless ones and the average lifespan on batteries on the mouse is 1-2 months. The lifespan of battery for the keyboard does exceed 10 months to a year though. Even the DELL notebook bluetooth mouse doesn't fare more than a month.
Nowdays i use A4 tech that have a rechargable docking station that is wired to the PC so i don't have to worry about replacing the batteries. RM 145 in combo keyboard & mouse package.
Unfortunately, i do not think having the claimed longest lasting battery would contribute in extending the mouse battery life expectancy. Cables are still the best.

depends on the mouse, new logitechs can last around 6months to a year. my g6 can last 1 month on cheap china rm5 3pack batteries. e2 , around 8-9 months. e2 batteries can be found at petronas kiosk. even 7-11 don't carry it. the problem is the mouse not the battery. You keep searching to cheap and long lasting battery but there is no such thing. Long lasting batteries will always cost more. Cheap one uses cheap metal (not alkaline) thus it's cheaper but it won't last.
What you pay is what you get.
Best battery to use for cordless mouse is Energizer e2. THis one cost RM16.90 for pack of 2 pieces. It is very light and pack juices of alkaline.
If you want longer lasting mouse then get expensive mouse like logitech and microsoft. No point getting cheap cordless mouse but you end up have to constantly change the battery which in the end cost you even more.
For eg,
Cheap mouse : Energiser e2 - RM16.90 (2 pieces) - last 5 month = RM3.38 per month
Energiser Alkaline - RM8.90 (2 pieces) - last 4 month = RM2.22 per month
Cheap Heavy Duty - RM5.90 (2 pieces) - last 2 month = RM2.95 per month
Expensive mouse: energiser e2 - RM16.90 - last 8 month = RM2.11 per month
So you end up paying more for the battery if you stick with cheap mice that doesn't last.
Thinking to go for rechargeable batteries? Well, most rechargeables are a hassle to use. A lot of them go faulty and cheap ones doesn't last long. You need to constantly keep them charged which is tedious and waste electricity. But eneloop that doesn't discharge, hmm...i never tried this but I will stick with energiser e2 for now.
TS also said something about turning the mouse off when not in use. Even with that the mouse last less than 2 months. My logitech mouse, i don't even bother to turn it off it has auto cutoff feature when not in use. Last me more than 8 month. Don't you take this into account when you talk about "good" mouse?

Beside buying more Alkaline batteries and throw into trash (after drain), using Rechargeable AA is a good option in term of average cost. (Al through startup cost is higher).
Low Self Discharging Ni-MH is recommended.

Use alkaline battery. Use normal battery of course life is shorter. Check also battery manufacturing date. If you buy expired, the stored power in the battery could be less than spec. Use more branded like Microsoft, Logitech ... their performance superb and battery last longer. I can safely say guaranteed This post has been edited by jeopardise: Jan 30 2010, 09:26 AM

from my experience, i used a lot of diff rechargeable batt before and here is my review (simple one la)
1) energizer - the lifecycle is really short, no matter what they say. after a few hundred recharge, you will find it doesnt hold the charge very long
2) GP ReCyko+ - good but expensive and its not powerful enough to power some appliance! its f***ing strange!!
3) Sanyo eneloop - best rechargeable batt IMHO. bit more expensive but the charges lasts a lot longer and also it manages to power up devices where the GP couldnt!
