Installed with Garmin XT (MSM map) and it seems like GPS detection way too slow and laggy comapre with my NUVI 255W. Thus this I8000 GPS act as alternate set.

Hi all, can someone help me to setup Maxis 3G connection. I just cannot get connected, mesage said "cannot connect for unknown reason...."

I have activated via *106# and received the msg that my 3G connection is ready.
On Main menu -> Network selection -> Operator setting, select Maxis 3G.
Main menu -> Advanced setting -> Connection -> Connection -> Manage existing connection -> "edit" Maxis 3G Internet:
Connection name: Maxis 3G Internet
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access Point: unet
user name: maxis
password: wap
Domain: <empty>
Press "Advance" -> TCPIP: user server-assigned, other untick.
Press "Advance" -> server: server-assigned...

Did I miss anything else?

Hi Ole, are you referring to Windows Mobile phone? I manage to set it up on Windows Moblie 6.1 (my Samsung I8000).
But I have no idea with Apple and Symbian...

Ole, firstly you need to obtain 3G setting from yr operator. Mine is Maxis as follow:

Maxis Mobile Internet 3G
Access point name: unet
Username:
Password:
Account name: Maxis 3G WAP
Proxy server address: 202.75.133.49
Proxy server port:80

MMS 3G
Access point name : unet
Username :
Password :
Account name : Maxis 3G MMS
Proxy server address : 202.75.133.49
Proxy server port : 80
Service center address : http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmsc

For 3G Internet
On Main menu -> Setting -> Basic Setting -> Network setting -> Operator setting -> select Maxis 3G -> Done.
Back to Main menu -> Setting -> Advanced setting -> Connection -> Connection -> tab "My Internet - Manage existing connection -> "edit" Maxis 3G Internet.
Connection name: Maxis 3G Internet (whatever you like)
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS) -> next
Access Point: unet -> Next
user name: <empty> -> password: <empty> -> Domain: <empty> -> Finish.
Back to "connection page" -> tab "Manage Existing connections" -> tab on "Proxy Setting" at the bottom.
Tick on both boxes and enter the proxy server IP, Maxis was as above = 202.75.133.49 -> ok.

Quick Test 3G internet connection: tab "Manage Existing connections', tab 'modem' at the bottom -> tab and hold the "Maxis 3G Internet" -> select connect.

For 3G MMS
Goto your Samsung 'SMS/MMS Inbox' page -> tab Menu -> MMS options.
Select Profile -> Edit (or new) Profile
MMS Profile: Maxis 3G MMS -> MMSC: http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmsc -> Data Connection: Maxis 3G MMS -> Gateway: WAP 2.0 -> IP Adress: 202.75.133.49 -> Port: 80

1st of all, the phone doesn't lag, its the Samsung UI lag, wish new update will resolve it. It doesn't lag at all once you change to other UI application (ex. SPB).
Secondly, have u try on landscape mode while typing? I felt better when typing in landscape mode.
Third, not sure what's happen with yr phone. For me, i don't have any problem read, reply, send and receive mail from gmail, yahoo, exchange ... etc.

My Omnia2 Installed with SPB Shell 3.5 (WinMo 6.1), S2U2. Birghtness set at auto, blacklight off after 30sec, sleep after 1min.
power consumption about 20-30% a day without charging in the day with average 1-2hrs talk-time and 5-10 SMS a day.

Better Power Consumption of 10-20% when usage pattern of average talk-time 1-2hrs and 5-10 SMS a day. Receive and read mails whenever there is a WiFi connection. Active-sync via USB cable whenever a pc or lappy in front of me. Bluetooth on when driving for average 1hrs+ a day. Watching Movie while stuck in traffic jam.

Never tested on Samsung WidgetPlus since it's off for a long time.

I would be happy if the battery could last me for 2-3 days.

Do a port forward in your router, as follow:
RTSP service: UDP port 6970 to 32000, port forward to yr phone IP. You are good t go now.

1) You are browsing the "Main Storage" page where it show you the space that you consume in "Main Storage".
2) In the same windows, the program list show you the program installed into your phones NOT your "Main Storage", even you might installed to "My Storage or Storage Card", .... imagine it is "Add/Remove Program" on you WinXP.
3) Even if you installed the program to "My Storage or Storage Card". It consume some space in your "Main Storage" for certain program. Imagine on WinXP, you installed to D but there are some DLL copied to Windows folder.
4) Garmin is one of the example will installed it's main program on root folder, but user folder on where you choose from.


My Garmin using the default setting, which are COM 7 and COM 9, worked perfectly.

No doubt, the Samsung UI (called Samsung WidgetPlus) is laggy which affect all of us. The dream will come true once you disable it and use other UI (ex. SPB MSH).
I8000 with AMOLED, 800MHz processor, 3.7" touch screen, fully compatible with WM6.5, 3.5mm headphone jack, TV-Out (never tried)....etc. You make your chioce....

Btw, "RTSP Bad reply" is the exact error appear? or RTSP Bad request?

Great news to all of us omnia 2 users.
I have been waiting this for a long time and finally... We meet Samsung Application Store on our PC now. Be ready for the Samsung's wave.
Samsung just release an application "Samsun Kies" with features like download those (free or paid) applications specifically designed for our belove Omnia 2. That's not all, Kies allow us to browse through our Omnia phone, backup/edit contacts list, copy media to/from phones.... and much more features, all under Kies.

1) Browse to this webpage: http://www.samsungapps.com/
2) Click on 'about' and follow the instruction to download the application.
3) During installation, select your prefer language, BUT CHOOSE YOUR COUNTRY AS "UK/ITALY/FRANCE". You couldn't run application store if you choose Malaysia or Singapore due to it's not available in our region yet.
) Have FUN!!!
