I am trying to Flash my phone to IL5 ,
it is my first time Flashing, I have read about it , and checked Modaco ,
Got all the files , here and everything. I am on Windows 7 so I also download and installed winXP drivers for Samsung MITs Driver successfully.

However when I select "detect" on OCTANS Downloader v2.11 , Nothing happens?? the Start Downloading button is not activated,

how long do I need to wait for it to detect my phone? , and yes i also tried with phone off and also on both didn't work.

What can i do to fix it ? anyone can help me out please?

and also which CSC to select from the list?? I chose i8000VIRIL5.csc , it is a UK version and since i use English I thought that would be the right version to choose

I also checked Preserve device's contents
and Erase CSC

This is my Log:

[Setup] Windows XP
[Setup] Download Ram Size :41777920 bytes,(39 MB)
OnDeviceChange \\?\USB#VID_04E8&PID_6619#5&32ae4d48&0&1#{25dbce51-6c8f-4a72-8a6d-b54c2b4fc835}

I don't have problem locking though, but i dunno if it is using GPS or A-GPS becoz i can't find that screen!

Did you run OCTANS in compatability mode? Windows XP SP3?
*
Hi

Yea fixed already the problem was with the Samsung MITs drivers ,
I just had to disable driver signature enforcement, and it worked fine.

anybody experience wifi missing problem? i encountered this problem while using spb shell wifi turning on widget.. wondering how could it happen.. need soft reset everytime
*
have you installed any of these programs:

Magic button
Wktask
SK tools (all recent versions)
SPB traveller

there is a wifi problem , nobody exactly knows the reason , but some softwares are suspected to cause the fault , after you uninstall them it might fix itself.

or if you have done some registery edits, it might cause that problem too,

if you hard rest your phone , it will be back to normal.

Here is some guy solution for it ,

QUOTE
There are a coupleof threads here discussing WIFI problems with 6.5  The nature of the problem is that WIFI would disappear from the list of netwroks and can't be activated. This can be becaused by changing a registry value for some minor fix (e.g. showing setting in start menu, etc.) and any number of program conflict.

My experience is that there is no application that cause this all the time.  However, I learnt that SKTOOLS would fix it. I followed the suggestion of a poster in one of these WIFI threads to use (advance) clean. and it works.

If you have this installed, do advance clean and delete everything it finds, cold reboot and WIFIis back.  So, now whenever I need to turn the phone off I do SKTOOLS advance clean first and turn it off. Then WIFI is there next time I turn it on.  I am using WM6.5 JD. I have not had a hang in two days since I falshed to this firmware. Fingers crossed.  Hope this helps.

EDIT: Well this fix works approx 2/3 of the time.
EDIT 2: Sometimes, advance cleaning needs to be done twice. Do it one and then select rescan, delelte all then switch off and switch on. So far it has worked fine.
EDIT3: Flashed to Secany's latest rom IK1. So far no WIFI disapprearing probelm even under the same program set up that would have caused problem in earlier roms.

how you solve ur previous problem in windows 7 in order to flash IL5?
I also facing the same problem....
*
You need to install XP drivers for Samsung MITs for your device , under devices i think.

* in order to do that restart your computer press f8 at the boot screen,
* You get few options select "Disable Driver Signature Reinforcement", and than it logs into windows.
* Install the Xp drivers after that.
* Run Octans Downloader.in XP service pack 3 compatibility mode.
* Click Detect on Octans Downloader after you select all the necessary files , such as PDA , EBoot and CSC stuff.
* Turn off your phone ,
* and Connect it to the computer.

after that you will know what to do .

For windows xp drivers for 32 bit and 64 bit driver , you can get it at Modaco
I have the 32 bit drivers but cannot upload them here.

here is the link guide for flashing ROM

http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-verizo...q/#entry1092927

and this is the link for guide for flashing under windows 7 , and windows xp drivers.

http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...7/#entry1094094

BTW IL5 is recommended , quite happy with it so far. very stable , low memory leakage. And smoother experience.

You are probably using windows 7 or windows vista to do it , that causes problem ,

there is a solution for it installing Win Xp drivers on vista or windows 7 , however if you are not tech-savvy i would recommend just taking to the Samsung Customer service , they will do it for you in less than an hour , and it is free .

In my opinion if you are going to tweak your phone and modify stuff , it is great phone for that.
But if you want for only day to day use , there are better options out there.

By tweaking around the phone and flashing into new ROM and stuff like that you can solve some of those problems.

i install some software to make my screen look like HTC but after reboot - all i see is a blank screen after the orange winmo 6.5 screen.

anyone can help me what to do ? coz it just hang there now, can't press any thing .....  cry.gif

Did you try to install EzyInput , I installed that last time and I ran to the same problem as you.
All you can do is do a hard rest on your phone , which means you will lose all your phone data.

Hard Reset of Omnia 2

1. First switch off your phone
2. Next hold Volumn Up + Screen Lock
3. Then hold Green and Power Button together
4. Then press Answer Call (left) button to confirm hard reset

You must hold the Volume Up + Screen Lock + Green + Power together and hold onto it. Release all once you see the Hard Format Screen.

Master Reset of Omnia by DialPad
You can also key in the following code to the dial pad to do a Master Reset
*2767*3855# but since you just get the blank screen i guess you cannot do it by entering the Code .

This will result in a hard reset and restore the WM registry. It will not clear "my storage

there is option in Octan Downloader that you should select before flashing , just make sure to select "Preserve Device's Contents" before flashing.

thanks for the reply mate smile.gif

i've checked out kuanchai's latest rom, and it only has the nb0 files

now im gonna flash direct from wm6.1 to wm6.5, so i guess i shoudl at least flash the eboot to latest too?

if so, should i use the JA1 latest OEM eboot?

as for CSC and phone part, can i just leave them be and not flash them?

thanks smile.gif

I never tried that combination ,so I can not give you a definite answer on that , but whenever I flash my ROM , i flash everything , I know they say it is risky but so far no problem for me.

Some more I heard people who do that (meaning just flash the PDA) sometimes run into some issues after flashing , that some part of the phone might have problem like GPS , or wifi. You can run the phone but just might run into some issues , again that depends on the combination and there may be some conflict , and frankly i am not too sure about that , cause i never done it , but as mentioned earlier I saw some posting Modaco for that some people ran into some problems because of that.

However in you case I recommend to flash to Secany's JA1 Rom , and flash the whole thing (eboot .eb0 , PDA .nb0, CSC .csc , MoviNand .mst and Phone .bin), than just go ahead with Kuanchai's ROM and just flash the PDA part ( which is nb0 file) , i think that would be best since you are coming from win mobile 6.1, so that would be the safe thing to do.

if you want to just flash PDA , and keep the other stuff from win mobile 6.1 , you should seek second opinion may be it won't cause any problem. But in my opinion not advisable.

Some more if you are worried that you might lose the original official ROM you can find the official win mobile 6.5 J9 on Modaco somebody uploaded there last time , so you can get back the CSC, phone , Eboot and everything back , so go ahead and flash the whole thing to JA1 ( The best ROM so far),

and also remember when you flash to windows mobile 6.5 you get less program memory available ( it is not too bad though) than comparing windows mobile 6.1 , so some people do not upgrade,.

If your GPS is slow , i am personally getting very good performance with GPS with the JA5 ROM.

it is a very good ROM , more RAM , smoother , better GPS and wifi, I recommend it.

Never experienced that , I don't think this sort of thing the phone fault , most probably it is the service provider problem or coverage issue.

You can use XEUJB1 , it is English version for unlocked phone.

If you can it would be great to give us a review after flashing :
info such as : RAM available after boot,
if you have any signal issue GPS, wifi,
any changes in user interface
overall performance and stuff like that.
