i had serious problems with garmin when i was in subang last week.. it was raining and i could not get any signal at all... i guess it could be the rain clouds

have just updated to v31 few days ago and i am reading all these garmin horror stories, yikes.. i rely a lot on gps to get around as my job requires me to travel... i did use garmin yesterday and it was ok, took about one to two minutes to lock on and signal was steady throughout the journey

will try again tomorrow

Just to share my garmin experience today. Was using it on my drive to KL, had lost satellite reception, unable to calculate route (!) and re-calculating route the whole morning! and couple of times when signal was lost, it remained lost and never came back on

Has to re-enter the destination many times and best part was i was near bangi area when the signal lost and came back on and indicated i was driving along jalan reko, kajang when i was on the north south highway!

Later in the afternoon was back to normal.. man, this is scary, and btw, i was not using a-gps. i guess normal GPS devices still are more reliable then phone based gps devices

Anyone using garmin on the tube to get to a destination should have a back up map on hand just in case if not sure about the route options

No one said mobile phone gps will replace dedicated gps. There is a reason why its call dedicated gps cost RM1000 and our tube with RM1200 with so many things.

Its dedicated means its build to function that way and our tube its just an additional feature mate cheers icon_idea.gif

hahaha, i know bro, oh well, good thing also dedicated GPS devices are getting cheaper these days but to have in the tube is good also la, coz never know when will come in handy but the problems i faced today was indeed a first time after using it for about 3 months already

Weird, seems never happened to me b4. How about your phone placement and is it your car window tinted? what firmware of your phone?

p/s: maybe side effect for satelite this morning due 'ribut taufan' at japan today. i guess  tongue.gif
Haha.. LoL!

nope, my windshield was not tinted and it was placed at the front of me using the holder as normal, i am using latest firmware

and i realize this problem only occurs when i am in the city, elsewhere no problem one hmm.gif
