Hello to all 5800XM users, I am interested to know whether this 5800XM phone has touchflo 3D same like N97 will have it in next Firmware update. I am seriously considering to buy a 5800XM.

Anyone can advise me whether to buy this phone or better to wait for X6? Btw, when it will release? Thanks to all for answering my questions.

the new batch of 5800 don't support TV-Out any more, so the CA-75U is useless..(i mean not compatible to new 5800)

oh well, what a shame...

anyway, thanks very much for your clarification.

err. need help. urgent.

a friend of mine just bought tube for 2 days, and it just crashed. I mean, falling crash. he said the lcd is broken, not sure if anything else rosak also or not.

he's asking if RM170 for LCD replacement is too expensive or just the right price ? FYI, he's in Perlis, and he is opting to go to a NCC (i think) somewhere @ Sg Petani

Hi, you can go to this link and check the closest Nokia Care Centre Care Centre Locater

Then call them up and they can quote for you the item you want repaired. can also ask them all the relevant info, like time taken to repair or even ask about other spare parts prices like housing etc.

ya, usually ori from nokia will be quite expensive, but of course the positive benefit is peace of mind.

never faced this. but as many others have point out, the 5800XM is "experimental" device and we all users become the "lab rat" laugh.gif
So definitely got many bugs.

My own experience: bought it brand new, bring home update FW. then next day after i first time swith off phone and switch on, try to on music player then the screen went dead! except the screen edges got pink/rainbow colours garbled like TV "snow effect". I so shocked! then phone reboot itself. but it only show the nokia logo, but never come out the handshake animation. then screen went blank. cannot boot up. read online that have to take out memory card then can boot up. I also reformat memory card as suggested. but till today, i cannot turn on phone with the memory card inside. must be removed then can turn on. strange...

hahaha....act before it restart, i also get the same thing like u.... the "snow effect". also need to take out the battery as it just boot until nokia logo....erm...but mine is becoz of the themes that i installed. I think you need to perform hard reset one time. What u mean cannot turn on the phone with the memory card inside? U mean u not using memory card now....I think hard reset with green+red+camera button while power on will solved this problem. If problem still occured. Then maybe hardware problem. Time to go NCC.
*
ya, forgot to mention i also hard reset once. but problem still persists. what i mean to say is that if my memory card is inside while device is off and i try to turn on, device will not boot up properly. i need to remove card first, boot up, then once already booted, insert my memory card. haizzzz...very the leceh..

do any of you guys think that my situation is legitimate for warranty replacement? thanks

Do you have other microSD memory card to try it on your phone?
It can be only the memory card problem and not your phone problem.

Anyway, going to NCC is the best choice.
*
oh my gosh! i just tried with my another 2GB MicroSD and my phone can boot to home screen! woot!

thanks for the suggestion mate!

this is not necessarily hardware problem. maybe you install something that prevent tube from starting properly. as you mention, you did hard reset but the problem still persist. even if you hard reset you fon with your current mmc, tube will try to install all those apps that previously installed on mmc, making it back to square one. and you did try tp insert other mmc and in turned out well.

my recommendation is, copy all your current files/folders in mmc to pc. then format the card (on fon can, on pc also can). tube will create necessary folders/files. and try to restart tube. if it still persist than this is most likely hardware.

only copy back your mp3 and picture. then try to install you apps one by one. i bet one of it is the culprit.

I see. thank you for the input

Oh no wait, my mistake.  laugh.gif  The volume's the same with the default player.  laugh.gif  I always have to put the volume at 7, but somehow my ears have gone a bit mor sensitive, I put it on 5 and it was enough.
Anyways the gapless playback worked well on some songs, but you can hear a slight pop on some others. But definitely and improvement and Nokia should really think on putting that capability as an option in the next FW. Some albums play better gapless.

i was thinking of buying online. Maybe later, when I don't live with my parents anymore.  laugh.gif

hey cool, i just DL folderplay and i like the gapless playback feature thumbup.gif

Added on September 29, 2009, 12:45 amwow! been listening to one track and comparing on both default player and folderplay, seems like folderplay has quite a bit of clarity to the playback. the separation man is awesome and less muffled. i'm impressed.

rm300++ according to tabletennis at NCC Kuantan  I suggest u go change ori at NCC.. rm49 is worth it for original quality

I'm so confused, what r ppl actually referring to here? There is the front fascia LCD (proper technical name "Digitizer Screen"??)
and front housing...Same thing is it?

I'm quite blur coz I'm looking to replace my "digitizer screen" and the quote for ori quality screen in only RM49? On ebay from HK will cost roughly RM80-100. Then NCC quote RM300. Is it all the same thing? rclxub.gif

well, i think there's actually 2 parts to the whole "touchscreen" thingy. 1) the digitizer screen, and 2) the LCD below it.

correct me if i'm wrong.

Well, if you have PDF, you have to use Adobe Reader.  It'll cost you, though, and alternate versions are hard to find.

You may wanna give ZXReader a look.  It reads text files and works fine, and it's free.

I'm currently using MobiReader.  It's not free and it reads its proprietary PRC format.  Good news is that the S60V3 version works fine (just don't switch to fullscreen) and there are tons of PRC ebooks out there.
Bad news is that MobiReader has been bought over by Amazon and development has stopped so it's probably a dead-end app.

Hope this helps!
*
what! so that's mean no mobireader s60v5 version? cry.gif

another reader for s60v3 is Qreader. quite good. last time i used on e90. wonder if it is available for s60v5?

Oh God, Markus Schulz is great... Really thumping my 5800 + SP1 combo right now, especially on "I Am"... The bass is ridiculously tasty... Wonder why I didn't try this guy out earlier... drool.gif

Need my Cyc PR2s pronto now... sweat.gif

As a sidenote, anybody else using Gdesk to replace their standby screens on a full time basis? I've been doing that ever since my dialler and contacts shortcut stopped working back before I formatted my Fate-Tan a few months back. It's buggy and lacks any form of haptic feedback (my greatest gripe with it), but the sliding around is oh so cool IMHO.

bro, ur using so many jargons... rclxub.gif what is fate-ten?

Was referring more to the song really, not the earplugs... I can say that it would prolly be quite tasty even on the stock earbuds, terrible as they are... For trance, in my limited experience, it's a great album.
SP1 -> Music Valley SP1, IMHO one of the best bass oriented IEMs below RM200. Works well even with the 5800 and its "crappy" DAC.

Cyc PR2 -> Storm Cyclone PR2, said to be THE bass flavour of the month IEM over at Head-Fi. Recently ordered one of this, waiting for it to be delivered.

Fate-Tan -> My 5800. Her nickname comes from Five-Eight = Fate (58-00, gettit?).

Yes, I name my phones, and almost all my other electronics worth naming. I might lapse into naming my earplugs too soon. Lol, right? sweat.gif
*
well, at least you're being real with yourself. And never allow Fate-Tan to get a Fake Tan! laugh.gif
