Here's to the continuation of other days Video encoding settings. tongue.gif

I finally got similar quality playback without using MPEG4 encoding. But I don't use H.264 AVC which is what YouTube videos are encoded. What I used is XVID codec which is found in most .avi containers except I used it with .mp4

My source is a Youtube HD video 40mb@ 3min.

1) Best quality/file size ratio - Xvid(MP4), 640x360, 768kbps (above 512 - 1000kbps will work) [20mb]
2) Best quality/original file size ratio - MPEG4(MP4) 640x360, 1200kbps [30mb]
3) Smallest size/reasonable quality - H264(MP4)/RV40(RMVB), 352x200, 512kbps [18mb]

Option (1) is best. icon_rolleyes.gif

Used MediaCoder Freeware.

Option 1.
Is the video playable on tube?
Thanks.
*
Of course. Any of those settings can work on the tube.
If I'm not lazy, I might host the encoded video (xvid) for you guys.

Tube's MediaCoder (or whatever that works) XVID encoding Preset file.

You can change the 'simple profile level' from 1 to 2, although I haven't ried it yet. Now encoding.
Enjoy~

To download right click it and save.

Good.
So far I've only gone to 368x208 @ 960kbps.
Going any higher bitrate would defeat the purpose of encoding with that codec. We're trying to achieve small filesize with just as good a quality.
I think I'll go lower but bigger frame size so pixelation won't be as bad when the video stretches to fill the screen.

Currently I'm aiming at around 60% the original file size, +/- 5%. Anything bigger and I dump it.  tongue.gif

I did attempt on converting a full DVD rip(1280x720).
But that took way too long, have to downsize anyways and I don't have much time. So instead I am now converting TV rips of top Gear, my favourite TV show. The original rip is perfectly sized for our tube(640x352, as it is ripped from British tv broadcast) and it looks brilliant as it is, DVD like if it weren't for its size. So I think it's a perfect one to start with.

BTW, we need a more competent video players in our Tube. It can handle high bitrate MPEG4 no problems at all, but can't handle even a large frame sized h.264 video, what's with that?
*
I surely don't like using H.264 on tube. The quality has decreased a bit although it needs lesser bitrate.

Yesterday I've found out a way to encode with the size of 640x320 MP4 with XVID codec.
For a 4 min@1280x720 video clip of 40mb to 20mb woot.
It works great! I did a comparision between MPEG4, black backgrounds looks less blocky in XVID. thumbup.gif

Go to page 88 to find out how i did it. icon_idea.gif

Haha.mp4 eh... Haha, it's been soooooo long, i really can't comment much on what I actually intended to do back then... laugh.gif
Great work, though, on the H.264 experiments, tunertoobe and the gang. I'm more of a resolution guy myself, so I'm gonna stick to XVID at full res, even if I need to tone the bitrate down a tad due to the 5800 not being able to handle EXTREMELY high bitrates.
On a hind note, to circumvent the problem with the 5800 NOT having a playlist for videos (need to go over to Symbian-Freak and sound this off, someone might program something in Py for this), I merged some anime series together - cutting out more then 1 instance of the OP and ED. One thing I can NEVER get right is the fact that for a 12-season series, somewhere in the middle, the voice and video gets out of sync (voice approx 1-2 secs behind the vid) and I never really could get that right.
Anybody have amy idea how to solve this little issue? In the meantime, I'm gonna go create a new thread on a playlist program for the default video player over at SymFreaks.

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Oct 2 2009, 11:38 PM)
So I came to a conclusion for H.264.
Level 2, 352x208, ~960kbps is the most that the Tube can handle. 768 is recommended. AT that bit rate, the quality is identical to that of an identical sized video at ~1400kbps.
Summary: 352x208, 768kbps(850kbps the Tube says), 380MB
Original video:
Bit rate: Can't get a straightforward answer from my player(VLC) but I'm guessing an average of ~2600+kbps. At some point in the video it has gone over 4000kbps.
Frame size: 640x352
File size: 733 MB
This was rushed so probably someone can get a better combo.
*
You guys can check back page 88/89 for my settings.

Now I currently use xvid .mp4 640x360@768kbps
Surely the file size drops but still same/equal quality. Satisfied lah. Might check out all your other settings. smile.gif

Erm sorry for asking *video codec* question again... I dunno where to ask this.

I converted some videos using mediacoder, the settings are:
MP4 XVid, 768 kbps, 640x360 resolution, 128kbps mp3

But no matter what type of video i play in my tube (be it a performance show or a anime) the video will lag after a period playing it. Not only one video, it's every video. It will lag somehow and if i pause it and continue playing it's be ok, but after a few moments it lags again.

Anyway to solve this? Or is there other settings/converter which can convert high quality but lagless video? So far mediacoder converts to a good quality but it lags... even in lower bitrate.

Thx in advance.
I also have this problem, when i check with handy taskman they're still running at the background eating my RAM.. How leh sifu?
*
I guess this could not be fixed. I also this problem. But it's not that annoying so I just leave it aside.
Besides mediacoder I use Xilisoft video converter ultimate (shareware) to encode to MPEG4, which works flawlessly and less skipping problems but you'll have to live with bigger file size. I tried H.264 numerous times using Xilisoft. Not working.

Well u can also try SUPER, but I don't like it. laugh.gif

im using xilisoft too..maybe you have set frame rate same as source file. I tried converting new flash forward drama las week with this setting and it plays without skipping or lagging..for lagging maybe the video got low bitrate..

so far i dun have any success playing any rm or rmvb format.lags like hell  doh.gif

anyone here have success hardsubbing the rm/rmvb files?

For those who is still debating about video playback
try go back to page 87 - 88

I have my presets n also some using xvid codec.

Just updated to v31 firmware but most of my previous converted videos are still having some lagging problem. they just lags for ONE second and then continue playing like normal but it kinda pisses me off...

I am going to soft reset and try again... Haiz
*
Well I don't think this has anything to do with firmwares.
if it lags, then it's the video's problem.

Heck I'd get fed up and use old skool MPEG4. XVID does skip more frequent though.
but I hate that H.264 can't use the full capabilities of the screen size.

Note: The chocolate bar below is hawt. laugh.gif

The most reliable and HQ settings for me are basically just MPEG4 1200kbps - 1500kbps.
It looks good. But I tried using 2000kbps for a HD sourced MV. it looks awesome with few delays 1/2 only. But I don't recommend it just because the size is huge. 58mb for a 4 min video. tongue.gif

actually im also converting SNSD HD videos... tried with a crazy 3300kbps, wonderful HD experience  rclxms.gif
But of course got lag for 2 or 3 times...
You use mediacoder right? XVid and aac? the xVid settings need to alter?

Hey guys... my video problem is solved. I found out...

...

NOT VIDEO PROB!
it's the theme problem =.= The pizero "Mystic lite" theme lags my whole system (now only notice) and when i use the default theme i can play 1500kbps video smoothly without a single lag/skip. Thanks for anyone who answered my questions patiently, finally no prob le rclxms.gif

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Oct 10 2009, 04:16 PM)
I installed all themes on my memory card, i afraid installing into the phone memory will have problems...

Just got a cheap temporary silicon case for my tube while waiting for the EPIK case frm askarperang... can't tahan with sweats/fingerprint marks on the rear cover >.<

P/S: I used a plyer to pull out my MicroSD =.= fingernail just can't do the job...

BTW anyone got LAGLESS theme to share? I like pizero style~
*
BTW, I'm using Pizero's Pulsar Premium theme with default icon. I'll try to use the default skin and see if the skipping problem is solved.
But this skin is damn nice. wink.gif

XVID? I have the presets back on page 87 -89 I suppose. (Bitrate is 768kbps fixed, but you can experiment on it though)
I just fixed my rig so those are already gone.
Now using Xilisoft, quick and easy I suppose. (MPEG4, 1200kbps)

SNSD wub.gif
Watching them on Tube is total epikness. XD
So what settings you are currently satisfied now?

Yah! Watching them on my tube is so syok XD
Im using 3000kbps LOL for maximum quality (at least maximum for my eyes)... Now no lag already, since im using the default theme.

Mind "sharing" the PREMIUM theme?
*
Is that refering to me? laugh.gif
PM me if you want.

But it seems that the Premium Pulsar theme is a bit buggy. Maybe it's because of that. Nevermind I'll get a new source. rolleyes.gif
But now I tried using Pizero Blue Haze lite theme, playing the videos which was supposedly skipping few times, is all gone. rclxms.gif

BW mind telling what settings ect codecs, dimensions, letterboxed (for 4:3) or stretched. I'm lazy to encode one by one videos.. So I encode all with 640x360 with letterboxed. It's not stretched or cut because I don't like the way it is. tongue.gif Thank goodness Korea is in full HD. doh.gif
I don't mind having a big filesize in order to get max quality. thumbup.gif *did
