At my place in Soviet Sarawak, shops closed at 7pm and ppl sleep at 9pm.if u listen carefully, you can hear some humping sound.
btw, they wake up at 4am to go to catch some fish in the sea. |

The gap between rural and urban in Sabah and Sarawak, is very wide.
For cities like Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, there has been quite a lot of constructions going on. Sandakan and Tawau do have quite a few constructions as well, but the gap with Kota Kinabalu remains very wide. |

QUOTE(fabianz03 @ Sep 16 2009, 06:03 PM) my requests for sdk Sandakan Harbour Mall is under construction, lets see what kind of shops will be there....starbucks mcd oldtown at least 1 shopping mall all shop close at 1-2AM longer airport runway All shop close at 1-2 AM? Susah lah, i afraid it will be loss making, but we should concentrate tourists at Sandakan town centre, then...........maybe you can hope for longer operating hours for shops around that area... If we can put at least a few thousands of tourists in town centre, then good... |

"the people are a boon of our country..." is a positive statement. because boon means "request" or "favour". So...you're giving a negative opinion but qualifying it with a positive statement. which means you are just contradicting yourself. And then you close off by introducing singapore which has no relation whatsoever because what happened to Singapore had nothing to do with natural resources. Smart... |

QUOTE(beatlesalbum @ Sep 16 2009, 08:26 PM) http://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news.cfm?NewsID=64473 like i said, it doesn't make the whole state uncivilizedvery very scary, and i dunt think that poor guy deserves it because he was jsut doing his job..... consider this: the perpetators are all criminals. do you think criminal would be considerate? are all sarawakian and sabahan criminals? i believe there are similar cases in semenanjung as well take mona fandey case for instance why don't anyone say pahangites are barbaric? |

Politically, Sabahans are far behind. There were another forum out there with a thread 'Why Sabahan Fail' and my response was (and still is):
QUOTE My definition of success among Sabahans is when we (Sabahans) can produce human that able to distinguish between right and wrong, able to make the right decisions and able to be responsible for it. I strongly agree with tuunonguy argument that mentality is usually the cause. This is not Sabahans fault in the first place because who are we other than a bunch of people that were born in a jungle. But Sabahans failed the minute they know what is right but instead, they do the opposite things. Learning how to evaluate history especially other people mistakes is the most valuable skill that Sabahans can practice. |

to be honest with u, i believe by association, our eastern counterparts will be labelled as ones who use magic for revenge..comparatively "more ganas" in physical way...(fromthe point of view of Orang semenanjung...)
im not that superstitious but there might be a little bit of truth...thanks to the history of that part of the country where black magic is still practised but im an open minded person, i make friends with everyone really...its just thats its the traits of the "tribe" there i |

Yeap those are the sea gypsies or Bajau laut..They are not new in Sabah but enter in big numbers recently...Can't blame them as that's their culture 7 those houses on the sea can be promoted...The only thing is to educate those poor ppl without nationalities.
Sabah & Sulu (Jolo, Tawi-Tawi) are their traditional hometown no boundaries but 16/9/1963 cut off the nationality...dun blame them...blame the colonial power for invaded their home country |

Sabah & Sulu (Jolo, Tawi-Tawi) are their traditional hometown no boundaries but 16/9/1963 cut off the nationality...dun blame them...blame the colonial power for invaded their home country what we have is: here and now. the present authorities are not doing enough. lack of political will and too much hanky panky (korupsi). that's why i involve myself in social welfare, but i must admit, it's not for everyone. QUOTE(thahirah @ Sep 16 2009, 09:59 PM) sad thing is me as an ums student never heard of any volunteering work or whatever related that goes to this kind of places. honestly, you wont find any official work to apply and be a volunteer. I was with an international non-government organisation. the ngo took interest in the plight of sabah's street children and so set-up a centre in numbak. this happened at the time when neither philippines nor m'sia wanted anything to do with these so called "stateless" individuals. |

even if what some people say is true. it's always easiest to criticize and lump blame on others. but when it comes to really affecting change, who is willing? pernah dengar tak, "turun padang". that means getting your hands dirty. experience for yourself. not just sit behind computer and talk kok.
yes sabah/sarawak is backward. but some of us here besides stating the obvious are just talking hot air. Example, you may have a really annoying and hateful mother, but if other people gang up on her, won't you be the one to stand up against the assault? for all of sabah's perceived weaknesses and lack, she is my homeland and I will do my utmost to defend and promote her well being. I dont rily understand y people discrimate sabahans and sarawakians. dude and dudettes, i think u shud buy a cheap air ticket and visit the states other than ur east malaysia. if u been to sabah, u'll experience something no less than kl itself. just that the branded stuff less sell compare to kl. and FYI, without east malaysia leeching from sabah and sarawak for their resources, u think east malaysia especially the capital city will flourish? Think twice before shooting other states.

QUOTE(Polaris @ Sep 16 2009, 05:56 PM) It's like going back in time, quite refreshing and slow but limited shopping and almost no entertainment everybody sleep before 10 pm. which part of sarawak u go???hahah is this because the PM said that sarawak achived the 1Malaysia long time d? (like whut i said before in some thread?) from whut i know... if we compare 2.. yess.. 2 city in sarawak... Miri and Kuching.. its far more advance and develope like other city in semenanjung.. Kedah, Melaka, Perlis, Kelantan, Terengganu... ive been to all this state main city. it just like bintulu in sarawak.. r u going to bintulu is it? hahaha... i think TS is jealouse because news today.... we can live together with more than 13 races while TS with 3 races dont. anyway... we dont compare even though they are less develope. most of my semenanjung fren..when they go to sarawak.. they will know how the people react, treat people and way of life to other races. hmm.. this kind of issue is just like.. err.. TS.. are you have a bit of Indonesian blood within ur family tree? so start to make "ganyang Sarawak/Sabah" instead then... This post has been edited by DeLarafi: Sep 17 2009, 12:19 AM |

Despite better public transportation, number of places to go to and plenty of things to do in KL, I can't help but feel completely stressed out by the noisy environment (LOL Rempit), pollution, and sheer rudeness of certain people in KL.
Back in Sabah, people never questioned what race or religion I am. Everyone hangs around as long as you're cool with them and they're cool with you back. When I first arrived in KL on July 2008, my first response was: WTF DUDE? I'm annoyed of being asked this particular question for the 9000th time over: 1. Are you Muslim? 2. If you're Muslim, why do you look Chinese? 3. Isn't Sabah a part of Philippines? 4. How come you don't eat pork? (newest question added. FFFFUUUU-) Other annoyances: 1. Indians think I'm from Brunei. Always get mixed up between Brunei and Sabah. 2. The frequent confusion (common with older generation) that Sabah is a separate part of Malaysia. Sample from a question asked by a taxi driver: "Kenapa Sabah ada lain dari Malaysia? Kami ini di Malaysia..." *facefeet.bmp* 3. The Sabahan accent when talking in Malay is often looked down upon and mocked, because to them, it sounded too 'Indonesian'. I'm forced to use English 9/10 of the time because apparently to most people here, I sounded somewhat Australian, and all of a sudden, their Malaysian Hospitality kicks in. 4. I avoid attending Friday prayers in KL due to a bad experience: being called 'kafir', simply because I do not appear 'Muslim enough' in the eyes of West Peninsulans. For some weird reason, an old pakcik single me out of a crowd of worshippers and started asking me really offensive questions, one of it includes "apa orang kafir macam kau buat dalam masjid ni hah?". This is not uncommon though; another friend had the same experience in Perlis. 5. Of course, as stated above and earlier, people questioning my race and religion really bugs me. Does it even matter as much as life and death in KL? Sheesh... PS: one thing that I do praise the people in KL is that they never asked me whether Sabahans still live on trees or not. Based on experiences told by friends, people from Kelantan, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan tend to be notorious for asking that sort of question. QUOTE(epul @ Sep 17 2009, 07:15 AM) it is not that my dad works in JMG as a geologist and he says it has something to do with th soil in kuching.... the road design spec is totally different compare to Sabah and peninsular (lower design spec) the transporter (lorry 10 tyres) tend to carry more load sometimes reach triple the load it can carry that makes the road bumpy cannot compare apple with apple different state has JKR style /admin Swak has autonomy power to handle their own management plus Swk has more road and longer road to build, maintain ana patch |

QUOTE(fabianz03 @ Sep 16 2009, 06:03 PM) Wow SDK no McD? Ok, you win. Whatcha gonna do with a longer runway? Got A380 coming in from London?QUOTE(fabianz03 @ Sep 16 2009, 06:29 PM) SHS airport expension? Scared then dun fly 320. If I'm not wrong, even KK runway isn't 12k feet long.damn everytime i fly a A320 i damn scared... coz the 7,000ft runway dunno enough or not... make it 12,000 and i'll say it's safe QUOTE(Zack Styler @ Sep 16 2009, 09:20 PM) The old KK runaway is the same, everytime A320 landed it must brake real hard, if not it will overshot.. It's not that. They just brake like crazy to make the taxiway to the Terminal 2 Apron. Lazy to backtrack. Having lived in KCH, MYY, BKI, PEN and KUL, I reckon those places quite ok. Hardly "mundur". Kuching a bit boring, cause you need a car and a local to get around. MYY zzzzzzzzzzz, end up becoming drinker (coffee shop drinker, not clubbing) or gamer. KK happening, except dirty, PTi and whole life no current. I mean WTF, every week no current. I wish the gomen would fix things like this instead of throwing money away to F1. PEN: i like penang. Just nice. Got jam, but not like KL. Got Queensbay, which feels like MidValley. Makan is da best in M'sia. KL is KL la. You can get everything you want as long as you got money. Only that the jam sucks and you get used to the haze. And its true, cost of living in KK is about the same as KL. All in all, I reckon all these places (and other even less developed areas) have potential to be great places to live in. But where did all the money go to? |

QUOTE(Hangmen @ Sep 17 2009, 12:26 AM) Despite better public transportation, number of places to go to and plenty of things to do in KL, I can't help but feel completely stressed out by the noisy environment (LOL Rempit), pollution, and sheer rudeness of certain people in KL. Can I say palui?Back in Sabah, people never questioned what race or religion I am. QUOTE(Axell @ Sep 17 2009, 02:03 AM) Its true, last Jan i go back at hometown @ keningau.... after 8pm all shop close even my friend cc close at 12pm = ( But I like Keningau..QUOTE(CaptDupe @ Sep 17 2009, 08:16 AM) Wow SDK no McD? When I was studying in UMS the most annoying question is: Hey do you live on tree by West Malaysia students. And as ALWAYS, I'll tell them: oh my...How you know? We take elevator to go up to our house. And when we want to go to neighbor's house we always swing there using the tree branches.
And they believe it...Dumbass Had been whole ever districts in Sabah and now living in KL. It's true that most of the Sabahan is MUCH nicer compared to KLian. Back to 2006 I had my first part time job in KL. I got question mainly asking for my salary. Example: (First meet) KLian: Hey how much you get your pay working here? Sabahan: Hey, how you feel about your first job? Work slowly, you can get used to it soon. Almost 90% the colleagues I met that time asking me salary amount in KL. Anyway, TS why you so like about night life? Human body starts to detoxify at 10pm. Best time to sleep is 11 pm. And MUST-SLEEP time is 12 am because 1 am human body appears to have weakest immune system in a day. Have healthier life la, if free go for sport, if not during kebakaran your body stuck at the emergency exit everyone blame you like hell. |

Malaysia cannot reach those targets. If you willing to help Sarawak, tell your Putrajaya to return all the resource money/taxes over past 50 years to each Sarawakian citizen from young to old not via CM.Looking for scape goat is like a loser who cant look at own mistakes but rather blame others for their mistakes. Dude, you are just like Timothy Geithner, blame China for its debt & currency manipulation. But the actual problem is with USA itself, heavily debt. Have you been to Sarawak first?besides seeing from your Fagged report BN media TV3? So what biggie if Msia lagging behind? tak suka go singapore la This post has been edited by KVReninem: Oct 4 2010, 01:39 PM |

West malaysians so ungrateful, dont they know without us petronas wouldnt be what it is today . We basically sacrifice 70% of state oil royalty so you guys could get fancy skyscrapers and fancy highways. I do agree sabah and sarawak really lags behind in terms of development as i am a sabahan myself but you westies dont have the right to insult us east malaysians because we are playing a big role in the countries economy anyway
