I think personal preferences matters a lot, so consider selecting a few and ask her to decide on one. It kills the surprise on the big day, but you'll save the trouble of returning the gift if she doesn't like it. It's also possible she might want a different kind for different/formal occasions, so no harm asking her to find out more.

I'm using one from Charles and Keith, been 3+ years I think, leather still looking good.

Thanks for the advice, so u think it's better in general to ask about her opinion first rather than surprise her when it comes to wallet ? Will take a look at charles & keith too.

Yes, I would rather have a "less but both happy from start to end" situation, rather than "receiver overjoyed at first, disappointed later because gift not suitable" situation. I think a fellow forumer once said he gifted his wife a nice branded bag, turned out the wife didn't like the colour or something.. he had to return it.

daisysummer very true. Personally I use a big wallet enough to fit my old* phone, so that I can bring it for formal occasions, because I dislike handbags in general. Mine also comes with a shoulder strap, in case wanna carry on shoulder instead.
(* I forgot to consider phone size when I bought new one last year 😂)

I would like to check, so I have decided to prepare a video wishes collage from her friends and some of our common friends, wishing her for her birthday.

I plan to surprise her when we go for a Sing K session, sometime later after her birthday. Issue is, most KTV I asked, can't slot in video into their system as its centralised. Do any of you know any KTV in Cheras / PJ / Pavilion etc which can do this?

Sorry I don't know any shop that offers such feature. I do have a friend who owns home karaoke system, I vaguely remember they can manually upload their own content to the box. Meaning, I think it'll only be possible if you organise sing k session at home with your own system.

Alternatively, just throwing out a random idea, maybe you can ask any restaurant that has TV display, ask them to play your video at a specific time while you both dine in there? You can fake a conversation out of the current running content to make her focus on the screen at the right timing... sweat.gif

Hello, looking for advice here, I and my girlfriend have been together for more than a year...
*
Sorry TS, I wanna pry a bit 👀 I was under the impression you had a gf for a long time so I'm surprised to see just 1 year. What was the breakup reason with your old, if you don't mind sharing? Also can PM if you don't want to share in public.

Back on topic, I think it's best to ask your gf what her parents might prefer. I personally don't like hamper because they only look good outside. Inside usually packed with random shit you don't want, or even things nearing expiry... Maybe times have changed but in my circle of family/friends, nobody does that anymore. These are what we gift around (mainly CNY examples but I think they're suitable all year round):
- dried mushrooms/scallops
- herb or spices (looooots to choose... Whatever you throw into your soup or cooking)
- high grade soy sauce or chili sauce (my relatives got connections who make them so...)
- canned abalones
- chicken essence
- dried fruits/nuts (my mom loves walnuts and macadamias)
- manuka or other pure honey
- lastly, bird nest or ginseng, premium AF.. we don't gift these but I'm just listing this since it came to mind.
