ACCA Qualification will help u secure a job, but experience and personality is what counts when it comes to promotion.. for my firm, u have to serve minimum 1.5yrs as junior, 1.5 year as senior, 1 yr as exec senior then only can bcome manager.. but very little ppl can do that la.. completed ACCA only helps as in u can focus on ur job full time and dun have to juggle between job and studies which is very tiring.. don't think ACCA will give u advantage.. in my firm, ACCA grad and degree grad gets the same pay and treatment.. the managers also will expect an ACCA grad to perform better than degree grad bcos it's ACCA!.. so it's not all that good  heheheh.. higher expectation from ppl  smile.gif

miserable to u might be not so miserable for another person.. it's just how the way u see things..  smile.gif

If i'm not mistakened, as an ACCA affiliate, you are treated no differently than a degree holder right? However, after gaining the 3 years experience which qualifies you to be an ACCA, then u'll get a substantial pay rise right??

Oh, having an ACCA cert is also better as it increases your market value in the workforce as the firms do not have to send you for training and give you study leave. Isn't it?

Correct me if i'm wrong.. smile.gif

erm....in audit firm ...ACCA and degree holder is same. ACCA IS NOT superior that degree holders. after 3 yrs experience....substantial pay rise high??erm...i dun think it is substantial..in my firm case...just slightly higher increment...

and even though u is ACCA ...the firm does send u for training also de...hehe..u cant run..  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

Alright, let's put it this way... If you're from HR, would u hire someone with an ACCA qualification or someone with a degree?

About the pay rise.. Really? Coz i heard from some of my friends that they get an increment of RM500 on top of the standard pay just for becoming an ACCA.. I may be wrong though, coz people tend to exxagerate...

And when i said training, i meant send u for ACCA tuition sorta thing.. my bad for not being clear.. smile.gif

my cousin taking ACCA too! but in monash! not bad though...

Monash teaches ACCA?? I think u mistook it for Sunway TES la..

Anyways, i really don't find sunway all that good to be honest.. Some classes are HEAVILY booked(i.e, no place to sit) and well, not all their lecturers are good.. They have really bad control.. tongue.gif Mind you, i was a sunway student for ACCA.. Only good hting i can think of about sunway is it's well, somewhat campus life.. and maybe the prestige of saying you're from sunway?? lol

if need me to mention...
i can say only Ms Menon and Ginesh are good...
the rest.... sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
It's Dinesh la.. tongue.gif unless of course, you're refering to another lecturer la.. Did you know hat Dinesh and Menon are siblings??? tongue.gif

Anyway, yea, sunway charges "premier plus" price.. tongue.gif Some lecturers ARE good, but not as good as lecturers in other tuition providers i guess.. tongue.gif I guess the huge price differential would be justified by the facilities you get in sunway?

Best is of course to go to diff tuition providers to get the best lecturers.. But that's really troublesome.. tongue.gif

Sorry to ask this noob question, i still remember ACCA can achieve by 2 ways, right? 1 is hard way but short and another 1 is easier but take longer. so which 1 is more recommend actually?
*
Could u be meaning to take an external degree, like, some british degree program and then subsequently take acca?
And the other being, going into ACCA from part 1?

You are right.....i guess 3 hours for 3.1 is really not enough leh.....need to read such a long question n pick the right points....must strive to write more... icon_rolleyes.gif

Try not to have too much quantity.. Later the marker realises that there's just too much crap and nothing of much value.. SO he comes to the conclusion that you're just not adequately prepared and fail you? shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

Conclusion : Crap smart.. Don't simply throw craps all over.. tongue.gif

haha...really got that intention..but need to gather some practical experience 1st before going to that field...i like tax..hehe..maybe influenced by someone gua... rolleyes.gif  rolleyes.gif
*
Well, we all have to start somewhere right?? Anyway, i doubt practical is really necessary to be a lecturer.. i mean, experience DOES help.. But if you're sufficiently prepared and have a good teaching method, i'm sure you'll do just fine.. I know a few lecturers whom after graduate go straight into lecturing..

U just need to be able to communicate well.. and this days, being able to teach in chinese is good too.. especially to the china students.. niche market.. tongue.gif

yalo,i know some lecturer jus go into the lecturing field...but for myself,i prefer gaining some working experience 1st...maybe can do 2 things at the same time..hehe...

lecturing in chinese a...erm,shd not be a problem for me...provided i know the materials la.. laugh.gif
*
Wah.. what's up wit h your quoting previously la?? so "luin sui".. ;p

Anyway, what you do in practical may not necessary apply to what you teach to students.. It may tend to complicated matters... But of course, it all depends on which subject you teach on.. hehe..

5 more days for me!!! AAAAAAAHHH

S17A sounds sooo familiar.. forgot dy.. tongue.gif Gave back all my 3.2 after passing it.. sweat.gif but good luck though.. And don't worry la.. i guess a majority of people here finds it really hard.. so i guess the passing mark will somehow drop to fit the quota?

Enjoy your hols laaa to all those who's done with their papers.. so stress summore for what?
