Ehh.. I think it all depends on yourself. If you want to join in the prestigous company later on and you think you are able to cope with the working environment there, then you can go to big 4 company...

If you dont want to overload your body, then you can choose to work in medium firm or small firm..But the big companies like shell prefer accountant who works in the big 4....
*
wanna share with ur which is my senior thought...where he 1st started at small firm, then medium firm and lastly now at big4...

small firm, u learnt a lots in other area like in tax, secretarial... accounting works also need to do sometimes... while in audit, client may not big enough, so got limited learning curve...

medium firm, u learn more in audit... and more areas covered... bigger client and some might have listed company... more complex area can be handle...
secretarial, and accounting works like data entry, will not have here... able to learn tax on audit point of view like deferred taxation..

big4, specialised... limited learning areas, but you are learn more into deep in the areas... if u joined fresh to big4, then u might not learnt as much as in medium firm...

just my 2 cents...

talking bout commercial vs audit.. think bout this.. in audit.. it's easier for u to climb up the "corporate ladder".. within 5 years.. u are already a manager.. then u can quit ur job and become another manager in commercial world...and with the portfolio u have, it's easy to get a high profile job...

by starting off in commercial world, in 5 yrs time.. most probably u'll start as a accounts exec and end up at accountant level? (mind u, accountant level in commercial is not very high position in big companies.. they have so many accountants).. how long will it take u to be a manager in commercial world? u'll have to wait until there's a vacancy.. probably when someone got promoted? when someone died? etc etc?.. most of the time it'll take u more than 5 yrs to reach managerial level.

however, it's about how much u r willing to sacrifice for ur futuree.. u want a peaceful life then commercial isgood enough.. if u want to achieve something in ur life.. auditing can pave a shortcut for u..

END OF STORY.  tongue.gif

thanks for ur in depth analysis... getting clearer for my direction...
but auditing for 1st 3 years, you get lower paid... many people is leaving audit line after few month o 1 years, as they thinks they can not live with it...

wow...u more geng than me....!!!ask me no sleep for 48 hours...i can die man!!but anyway..i dont think it is good for health like this...coz u overload ur work and ur efficiency is actually drop, u cant think. this is what i think.
so i prefer for a job... and it is tight deadline..prefer to everyday OT average max to 11-12am rather than work 48hours non stop at the end. that is really really tiring.

eerr...haha...where im working....can give u clue...recently been suspended by SC for 6 months.  tongue.gif

Welcome to this threat.. Erm, for ur ques, thats depend on urself.. Are u new in ACCA..?? There are pros n cons for evy coll de la... Basically, 3types of ACCA tuition provider:

b) TARC - college environment.. Easier to get thru with the diploma n adv diploma (internal exam).. But it requires 4 years in TARC then take ACCA part 3 examination.. Its more difficult to handle external exam in ACCA part 3 once u in TARC used to internal exam type...

ANyhow, its just my opinion.. Hope it helps.. Im sorry if i made any mistake in the above points..
*
hmmm...u quite right about it... anyways, u forget 1 thing...
2 years in diploma...
2 years in advance diploma
then optional
3 months spend in UK summer... Sheffield Hallam University

can get a Honours Degree...

for the 1st 4 years, it is affordable and quality education provided by TARC... while the summer top up degree program in UK will cost u about RM30K... it's a conservative figure, where u seldom o hardly travelling around...

we departed to UK, after finished our CORE papers exam in june... so we study in UK while waiting for result...
my fren, they passed ACCA... and come back msia got 2 convo within 6 months...
ACCA convo, and then UK degree COnvo...

for internal exam to external exam...the differences is only the scope of the exam... internal exam, will exam on what lecturer teach... while external exam, it's too wide...
so u just need to put extra effort to study wide...

yup, after 3 yrs, u r no longer an affliate, u are a member of professional body and u r "qualified".. so u'll get "qualified pay" which in my firm is significantly higher.. but the degree ppl who finish their CPA,ACCA etc,if they join same time with u,3 yrs in the firm also, will get the qualified pay at the same time with u ma.. since both of u have 3 yrs experience, because the working experience part starts when u work, not when u pass ur exams.. so in the end........ u guys will be getting the same pay also  LMAO
sanction only ma.. not license revocation.. no new clients wont die 1 la.. just that ur existing client will cabut la.. ur reputation not very good lor.. hehehehehe

d "qualified" paid will it higher in medium firm???

Regarding TARC, i thk sitting for internal is much more comfortable than sitting external. Internal is easier to pass and u dun have to stuck at external paper is u fail it. For me, i thk the exposure to external paper can be gained by practising more past year examination paper. But telling the truth, u must be prepared to face the lecturers of part 3....you will know the difference then.
*
actually, the lecturer is expecting your to know the fundamental thing well...
know the basic, so they not hesitate to teach on advanced level lol...
on faster rate...
